Time for this war to end’: Biden lays out hostage-ceasefire deal, tells Hamas to accept it
US President Joe Biden clarifies that “Israel will always have the right to defend itself against threats to its security and to bring those responsible for October 7 to justice.”
“The United States will always ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself.”
“If Hamas fails to uphold to its commitments under the deal, Israel can resume military operations. But Egypt and Qatar have assured me they are continuing to work to ensure that Hamas doesn’t do that,” he says.
Biden urges Israelis to accept plan, and Israel’s leaders to stick with it, blasts talk of ‘total victory’
“The United States will help ensure that Israel lives up to their obligations as well.”
The First Phase of the Deal would involve a Total Ceasefire followed by the Complete Withdrawal of Israeli Forces from the Populated Areas of the Gaza Strip over a Six-Week Period, during which Negotiation with Hamas will continue until the beginning of Phase 2.
The Second Phase would include a Permanent End to Hostilities between the Israel Defense Force and Hamas, as well as the Release of any remaining Live Hostages by Hamas.
The Third and Final Stage of the Deal would return Total Control over the Gaza Strip to Palestinian Authorities, also known as Hamas, and would see the Bodies of all the Deceased Hostages being Released.
