- Lakewood committee meeting recap: Committeeman Meir lichtenstein and Menashe Miller  bypassed fellow  committeeman Akerman and instead nominated Ray Coles for Mayor of 2023  for a 7th consecutive term instead of keeping to what used to be a yearly rotation. Coles Miller and Lichtenstein voted yes for the mayoral pick, Akerman voted no and committeeman Delia's vote was inaudible. Miler was voted as deputy mayor 5-0.  Coles deflected questions by the public who asked why meetings are still held remotely. He said that he found that public participation has gone up tremendously with the remote meetings, ironically there was no one from the public who spoke up but 2 emails sent in. The mayor said more people reach out to them via phone calls instead of waiting for the monthly meetings. As for the health of Committeeman Delia the mayor said it is up to Mike himself to decide if he wants to run for reelection Lichtenstein said Mike was sharp at a recent meeting. Committeeman Issac Akerman thanked the public for voting him in again, Lichtenstein said he plans on doing good things for the township, Miller mentioned  opening Vine st and the light at James and Williams. The mayor spoke about the traffic problem and blamed the county and state again.

- A new trend on social media is making Type 2 diabetes medication unavailable for those with the disease. The explosion of the trend came after Elon Musk tweeted that the biggest reason for his 30-pound weight loss was fasting and Wegovy, also known as Ozempic. The drug’s

active ingredient, semaglutide, also mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food. Because it makes users feel full faster, it can lead them to lose weight. It is taken by injection.

  1. Coles said that remote meetings allow township members to attend meetings even when are out of town. Which is crazy! They are getting paid by us, let them work their schedules to be able to attend the once a month meetings.

  2. The Mayor and Committee do not want to be criticized in public to their face that is the reason for keeping the meetings online. It is a slap in the face to all Lakewood residents that they keep pulling this shtick. Let them face the public why are they so scared to do so, let them schedule the meetings back to normal hours at night when it is easier for the public to attend.

  3. No reason they can't accept email and phone comments during in person meetings. Very poor excuse. And the fact that they claim people reach out to them all day, so there's less of a need for public to comment during meetings, is nothing. It's not on the record and it's not in public. They don't deserve a raise, and they certainly don't deserve a raise if they can't show up in person once a month.

Did anyone notice how Mike Delia got disconnected when he was asked about his health?

  4. Coles said he can be reached on his ask the mayor feature online. Is he kidding????
That feature on tls is nothing more that a PR extension for the mayor to look good with stupid non issues pre screened or made up questions.
That is NO EXCUSE for not showing up in person once a month to face the citizens of Lakewood
We have no one to blame but ourselves to allow this humiliation of us and taking advantage of our govt and tax dollars by representatives that cowardly will not face the people who voted them into power.
