For the second year in a row the Lakewood township committee will increase salaries for some township employees including the mayor and committee members. The second reading and passage of the ordnance will take place this Thursday at the township committee meeting which will be held virtually. This comes on the heels of last years significant raises for 2022 with zero public support as many members of the public submitted letters against the increase. Taxes went up across the board this year in Lakewood with the municipal budget alone increasing 3 million over last year.
The Mayors salary will increase from $80,00 to $88,000 it was $71,000 in 2021 and in 2018 the it was $34,00.
Members of Township Committee salary will increase from $65,500.00 to $73,500.00
Director of Economic Dev./LIC/ increase by 10k to $170,000 plus $500 monthly car allowance
Deputy Mayor salary will stay the same at $68,250.00
OEM Coordinator (part-time) goes from 40k -$50,000.00
Municipal manager 225k -240k
(Last year the committee voted to give life time health insurance to all its members who serve fo20 years 4 will qualify by next year and MUA members also increased their salary from 5k -10k which includes the mayor committeeman Lichtenstein and Deputy Mayors spouse)

Huge raises across the board for part-time no show jobs. Disgusting. No accountability. No other township has salaries near these.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. The members of the committee are just regular politicians who look out only for themselves. For example, they abolished the rent control board which makes it harder for the average tenants to keep a roof over their heads. But at the same time, they also raise their own compensation levels (and way way more than other township committees) for a not-even-part-time job, so they can live in comfort at the expense of those they're supposed to protect. I wonder if that would qualify as hypocrisy?

DeleteWhat are you all complaining about? It's just another $150 a year in your property taxes. That less than a cup of coffee a day. ACDL&M this deserve a raise, they make themselves available for the press whenever there's an antisemetic incident. We need to pay for teeth whitenings so they can smile nicely for us in public. Does the township dental plan include quarterly teeth whitenings? No? We need to add that benefit too. They work so hard we should be giving them paid vacations. We actually do, because they'll get paid when doing nothing. If the fire budget needs a public vote, which subsequently gets overridden by the township committee when the public votes it down, certainly raising the pay should be on the ballot.

ReplyDeleteits our own fault its time for a tax revolt let everyone stop paying taxes like sheep why isnt their term limits on all these voted in positions for one it would save us all from paying health insurance for the life time of these "asskonim" and all the backdoor behind the scene deals we are seeing exposed would obviously not be happening if we had diffrent asskonim every 3 years or so
