The past motz"sh during the famous weekly Na"ch Shiur given by Reb Michoel Sorotzkin here in L'kwd he spoke about the story of the גבעונים who are the נתינים discussed in the beginning of אלו נערות and also in גיטין, קידושין and יבמות. We never learn the background of the נתינים other than the fact that there was an איסור on them by משה יהושע ודוד.
