  2. They'll use our money to make a separate vote & schlepp us out on Motzei Shabbos. We will still succeed in voting it down. Then the board will override our veto.

    Some town we live in!

  3. How about you ask someone in the fire department. Lakewood is no longer a town, it's a city. Our costs have gone up a lot. As an example one of the items we need funds for is communications. Currently we have kids interrupting us during emergencies. We have had children try to disguise themselves as dispatchers and try to send the firefighters out. We need updated secure radios so we can work without interruptions.

As lakewood builds bigger we need heavier equipment. Just look at the fire we had a few weeks back at the large office building that was in fire. Gone are the days of lakewood being a shtetel

    1. Please explain the mamy paid jobs that were recently created within the Fire district not the full time firefighters but the administrative branch. How is that justified by spend hard earned tax money and raising it year after year. What will cost 7 million or more next year after the board added millions if tax increases for capital improvements over the last 5 years. Can the public have a indapendant audit.

    2. Increased tax rate the last couple of years than special capital expense expidebtures on top of that.

$55k for "administrative vehicle" $125k for chiefs vehicle? $90k for lighting? That's not expenses, those are people wanting to by toys at the taxpayer expense. And no way a roof that size should be $185k

  4. Most of the budget increase is from the paid firefighters. They is by far the districts biggest cost. Have a look at the budget, it's public information. As i mentioned above. Lakewood is no longer a town, it's a city and our expenses go up every year. We need people in the office managing things. We need updated equipment etc.

  5. It funny how some of these "residents" have no clue how to run a town.
Why don't you start your own town and keep the taxes to a minimum, like near zero?
I'll bet all the residents will be very happy until the first snow, storm, emergency, fire accident. robbery etc.

    1. lakewood should join the defund the police movement, it would save alot of money. And we should stop garbage pickup and require everyone to drop their garbage at the dump. And if you want a street light in front of your house, hook it up to your electric. There are alot of ways to save money.

    2. Do all the clerks in the municipal building get $55k vehicles? Does the police cheif have a $125k vehicle?

Don't know if you've seen it, but I have watched some of the fire commissioner meetings online. It is giving millions of taxpayer money to someone with the mentality of a 12 year old to play with.

The time when the vote is scheduled, and all their votes for that matter, just re-enforce that

  6. Disgusting and insensitive to the community to hold elections on chanuka when people are spending time at home with their family or traveling

The budget is 7 million dollars a year why do they need extra money

  7. Part of this vote is to buy a shiny new car for 60 thousand for the admin staff something they never had, buy another car for 120 thousand for another chief when they have more vehicles than chiefs. They spending our money without chesbon like they dont care. They also didnthis on a special date instead of doing at a election so no one should come. Their meetings have been online due to covid but this they have no problem with. Shame on them. This is not benefitting the firefighters not paid or volunteer thisbis waste spending buy irresponsible commissionsers
