  2. I am looking at the legislative budget and found what I believe to be the $7 million coming out of the Property Tax Relief Fund for Lakewood. Seeing how the governor played the Vaad as chumps with the voucher fiasco (NOBODY IN NJ HAS THE POWER TO PROMISE VOUCHERS-except maybe Chief Justice Radner, AND THE TEACHERS WILL ALWAY OPPOSE. You have to remember, we have the best or second best public schools in the nation and a state constitutional responsibility to fund them fully), this $7 million must have been the paltry reward of a possibly permanent Democratic seat in the Assembly.

Now, I have been saying since the last election when the Vaad went behind my back, and caved in to the governor when he spoke about my case, that by delivering a Democrat, if they played hardball, have gotten us a settlement of WAIVING THE DEBT and $80 million a year change in formula (enough money since $20 million of our tax is for annual payments to the State on the loans). Your bosses (sorry, but the people are the boss in this nation) showed their true colors, probably contrary to what everyone says, out of ignorance, lack of big city Houston type (maybe NYC is similar) corporate mentality, lack of education and parochial small town mentality, rather than avarice. However, as we get closer to finishing in the Appellate Division, we might even do better. They might just have to deliver another Democrat depending on who wins the gubernatorial race.

So here is the story. We already won. The Court said the state is not providing T & E in Lakewood. Now we're are in the second phase where the state has to prove that it is not the fault of the formula. They are blaming it on Lakewood. They will lose IY"H.

However, we need $80 million a year. Who pays? That is a political question, not a legal question. If we pay $40 million and the state $40 million, there is nothing I can do in the Court. We will get the debt forgiven as a legal matter. Historically, in the Abbott cases, which is basically the ruling we got, the state paid, but Lakewood has been run by a bunch of turkeys.

So it is up to YOU, not me. Don't blame me for getting the once in a century, for any township, win in court. I have lost my job and had nothing but opposition simply for achieving exactly what the Township, Vaad and BOE have been trying for two decades.

Abbott brought billions to Newark and the urban districts.

Your elected officials will have to argue that Lakewood is the poorest town in the state. I have been arguing that in Court but it will not matter during this phase. What likely will happen is that the legislature will give us much less than $80 million and leave Lakewood alone. That will still keep us $40 million short and once again we will be back in Court.

Just do me a favor. I want to finish and go to another district, perhaps move out. There are plenty of town driving distance if I want to come back to the yeshiva. Elect people who make a priority of getting a good settlement. That last election was shameful. Not only a disgrace, but the people you elected and followed the marching orders of the Vaad, such as the Assemblyman, are on the record as opposing my school funding case.

Lincoln was right that you can't fool all the people all the time. This time, hopefully, candidates for BOE in favor of doing their part in this monumental, historic case will step up the the plate. Hopefully, the township will also support us. Then not only will Lakewood build a solid financial foundation for generations, but you might succeed in returning government of the people to the people. AL

  3. Maybe if the police department would do their job or be allowed to do their job and the statistics for accidents would go down we would all save money on car insurance. If every single person got a ticket for a $ 200. We would still save money, let alone injury and The cost of car damage.
