Lawmakers Drop Proposal to Add Women to the Draft

Politico reports: Lawmakers drop proposal to add women to the draft . The provision had been part of the defense policy bill.

Compromise defense policy legislation set to be filed Monday will not require women to register for a military draft, according to two people with knowledge of the negotiations, a stunning turnaround after the change gained bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.
Leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services committees left the provision out of the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act, despite the fact that both chambers' bills would have expanded the Selective Service System beyond men.

The move is a victory for conservatives who fought to strip the provision. Those attempts had come up short because lawmakers from both parties supported including women in the draft. Expanding Selective Service has gained momentum since all combat roles in the military were opened to women. (politico)

  1. Now let them give teeth to this which is virtually meaningless unless the draft has some kind of year-long domestic compulsory service within the us at least Military and non-military services for males
It could give males a sense of identity and value & will also restore a lot possibly back to the US that has been lost since 1973

The unappreciated hero behind this Victory to keep women off the draft is

  2. Our communities are significantly larger and far more influential than they were back in the days of the last draft, which would be bound to make it far more difficult and noticeable for our boys to draft Dodge. Which further goes to highlight those who claim what our leadership operated in the different circumstances is..
