A Change Of Policy on Attacking Presidents

Another suspicious but more surprising statement by the Lakewood vaad at least this time it was signed.  No, not about Quality of life for Lakewood residents or anything pertaining to the town, or perhaps acknowledging their irrelevancy and lack of trust and support in the kehilla. Unlike a recent condescending letter attacking Lakewood residents who voted for Ciattarelli, this one shows a change of policy on attack sitting presidents who are friendly to the Jews.

The statement from the vaad reminds the tzibbur not to criticize president Trump citing a strictly halachic and Torahdike perspective, "the Hakoras Hatov he deserves takes priority over our urges to sound off with disparaging political commentary". The statement ends by calling on all to "contribute to the Kiddush Hashem of appreciating and thanking our friends and not Chalila the opposite".

It was the Vaad who attacked Trump in August 2017 in a publicized statement following the events in Charlottesville speaking out against Trump’s lack of reaction to the alt right protests. Lakewood residents and the frum world were outraged at the vaad for antagonizing a sitting US president. The Vaad never apologized.

The Vaad never acknowledged that Lakewood community's support for Trump, known as the Trumpiest town.

Nor did they apologize for their spokesperson who spoke publicly to the media and  called Lakewood innocent youngeleit Bad Apples. That for sure has halachic and Torahdike perspectives.

  1. Not sure what you are complaining about. Had they always criticized Trump and all of the sudden started writing about not attacking Biden because he is the sitting president you would have a taineh.

Here however they are saying not to GRATUITOSLY attack a former president . And definitely not one who we owe hakoros tov to. By Charleston they were criticizing a SPECIFIC thing he said. That is totally acceptable. Hocking online that Trump is a jerk over no specific issue is not

    2. Why did the vaad attack Trump in the first place. They did it at a time when the left was beating on him and he could have used some support they put everyone in danger by sticking their nose where it dont belong.

Why is the vaad busy with things beyond their mission which is to focus on Lakewood.
This is a sad attempt on their part with fake PR

They should do the responsible thing and disband.

  4. Where were those Aguda Rabbis or the vaad when we needed them to urge international outrage to pressure Lapid to save Alta Fixsler (see Arutz7 Fri. Oct. 8th, by Binyomin Feinberg)? They had over a week’s time to act. Is it that there’s money in Kossel advocacy?

Moreover, where are these Rabbis when it comes to pidyon shevuyim mamash, getting refusenik girls out of jail, and prevention of the persecution of such girls by the IDF draft office, and the wholesale hefkairus of allowing the IDF to increasingly pressure, dupe and convince girls to enlist despite their entitlement to religious exemptions, and the overall pritzus in the IDF which afflicts both female and male conscripts?

    1. Because your whole story is fictitious. The whole story with frumme girls in the army never happened. It was made up to try and make Rav Shteinman look bad. And some foolish Americans bought it, hook line and sinker.

  5. I am so glad I found this site. Fun to see what plays in the minds of the Lakewood jews.
Comment about Agudah is right. Where are these organizations that collect millions from us and claim they are there for us ? Agudah, Amudim, Achiezer. Where is the gishrai? Where are the lawsuits protecting Yeshivas Bais Yakovs and Minyan btzibbur. Certainly NY is iyh huge trouble of being shut down
