NJ Gov Candidates Courting Lakewood Voters

Lakewood is Trump town, coined the Trumpiest town in NJ where he won the Lakewood vote by 50 points over Hillary in the 2016 presidential election. In 2017 Murphy won the Gubernatorial election in Lakewood by 114 votes over republican Kim Guadango, receiving a total of 5,704 votes. voter turnout was low despite the vaad endorsement of Murphy after they initially endorsed Guadagno in the primaries.

This year 2021 the NJ gov race has both Murphy and Ciatarelli campaigns vying for the Lakewood orthodox vote as census numbers show a huge voting bloc in Lakewood and the surrounding towns. The climate is different now 4 years later due to the covid pandemic and left liberal policies passed by the murphy administration. Both campaigns are advertising in local Lakewood media publications attacking opponents and highlighting achievements.

Murphy's campaign notes that he has fully funded student transportation in Lakewood, maintaining the right to worship freely, security funding for religious institutions and standing up to antisemitisim. Ciattarelli campaign ads compare Murphy to Cuomo just with a smile. Jack Ciaterellei has made a few visits to the Lakewood area meeting with the locals and interviewed in local media addressing the concerns of taxes, traffic, Israel and Murphy mandates. The Vaad is expected to give its endorsement to Murphy overlooking his liberal policies, high taxes and mandates out of gratitude for allowing schools to remain open when Lakewood was ahead of the state with the second wave of coronavirus. However, many are concerned about what lies ahead such as forcing vaccine mandates on children and other quality of life and  ultra liberal policies which could make their way into the private schools undermining the religious beliefs and values of the orthodox jewish community.

  1. Corzine came
to Lakewood twice even though he was leading the polls

All religious Jews really create the atmosphere and those in the governing always know

we unfortunately sell ourselves small and short .
Or we sell ourselves through our hockers

Anyone who promises to widen the 9 as fast as humanly possible, has my vote for the next 4 years.

      Just saying.

    2. Been there, heard that many times. Never happened yet. Words are cheap. Promises are meaningless. Look at the track record. Murphy's is lousy.

who will be found guilty? Anyone but ourselves and Those who "guide" the voting Bloc

  4. Hakaros hatov can be given with a chocolate cake not at the voting booth

the community will not vote for someone who supports killing a full term baby in the mothers womb, someone who sent sick covid patients into nursing homes which sent over 8000 seniors to their deaths.
They will not vote for Phil who put into law starting from kindergarden age children to teach about LGBT and toava lifestyles.

And who knows what he has up his sleeve with unchecked power in the next 4 year term

    1. Hakaros hatov doesn't mean putting yourself or your children into a safek makom (matziv of) sakanoh. We must not reelect this rosha who is personally responsible for the death of thousands by putting covid patients in nursing homes, spreading death and dispair.

    2. The whole idea that abortion is an issue is a false flag operation. Murphy is not changing the abortion laws in NJ, and the abortion laws do not even affect us in our lives.
The nursing homes fiasco is another false flag. It is a non-issue for us, leave to those for whom it is an issue.

And this stupidity of kindergarten children learning about LGBT, when our schools have zero government input into the curriculum, is yet another false flag.

Republicans, you are three for three. You are using lies and nonsense to throw sand in our eyes to persuade us to vote against our own interests.

    3. Wow wow nebach on you Agudist and vaadnik, there are greater people than you who disagreed but lets say according to your hashkafa it is all about the gelt and anti torah policy agenda means nothing as they say "gelt uber alles", who will be getting the money?
Will it be going to ease life and financially help the thousands of struggling hard working Lakewood families? Will it help lower taxes or tuition? The answer is a flat out NO!
Historically it is the well connected local self appointed askanim who hog the flowing money coming into the community and fill their pockets by using the voting block to their advantage. Once in a while they will let some money trickle down a drop but over all, the way things work, the well connected figure out how to be the recipients of the incoming federal dollars and the poor amcha yidden don't see a penny.

So if you want to get the trust of the olam to vote for Murphy all those in power must declare publicly how much they will financially gain from their positions in power and self interests otherwise they have no business or mandate to truly represent the olam.

    4. I don't care if they get the money. If they build up our infrastructure, I can fargin the 'fatcats' and their profits. It isn't coming from my pocket. But if we stand a chance that our infrastructure will be improved, that we will not have to suffer as much traffic as today, that is enough for me. Citarelli has promised nothing and has nothing to show for us at all. When Murphy helped our community.

    5. Murphy has blackmailed our community. That is not called helping!

  5. Citarrelli has not even promised anything to help our town. Even if he keeps his campaign promises, we will gain nothing.
Stop with the shitah, vote your own interests. Murphy is our own interests, we are not in nursing homes, neither are our parents. Stop getting caught in foolish politics and vote for the person whom there is chance that he will do something לטובתינו.

Remember, billions of dollars will be coming to the State from the Feds. Do we want some of it, or do we prefer that our infrastructure gets nothing?

  6. Who is old enough to remember when, in the pre-Hefkervelt days, the noisemakers in Lakewood convinced people to vote against the Va'ad and for Christie?
How did it work out for us?
People were giddy with excitement, "look! We got a conservative in office, who will fight crime and lower taxes!"
And what happened to us? This Christie led a vendetta against Lakewood. But not against the Va'ad, but against the simple people, people who had nothing to do with politics. Yungeleit who only wanted to sit and learn, were viciously attacked by the government for crimes that they did not commit. Baalebattim with just about enough money to live, were pounced upon and paraded through the media as criminals and thieves.
But that is not all. The yungerman next to you in Shul, who got married three years ago to a girl from Cananda? His wife only had a Green Card, so thanks to Christie, she was ineligible for Jersey Care.

But who cared? Did those noisemakers ever take responsibility for their foolishness? No! They continued to attack the Va'ad and blame them.

I am no chassid of the (non-existent) Va'ad or the Agudah. But I have no reason to believe that those who are against them are any better. They all have nothing smart to offer, none of them have ever offered practical solutions to any issues and they are all אפרוחים שלא נפקחו עיניהם about any topic under the sun.

Fighting Murphy now, when we have issues on the table that he will help us with, is irresponsible folly.

    1. What lies you spew the sad attempt to rewrite history. We remember very well it WAS the vaad who ticked off Christie and refused to meet with him when he begged for a meeting. The VAAD was all in for Corzine who ended up losing because promised them some favors with Cedarbridge.
Christie took out his ire on Lakewood because of the VAAD gamble that he wont win.
It was the VAAD spokesperson who publicly shamed Lakewood frum residents and called them Bad Apples to the media.

There are more things about the vaads involvement with the raids on lkwd. Do you remember how silent they were for 3 days after and did not defend or stand up for the lkwd residents.

The noisemakers you refer to were the innocent tax payers who git used and abused by the selfish vaad that took advantage of lakewood for their own gain.

Murphy promised nothing to Lakewood. Oh widdeining route 9 that was put to rest by the vaad who signed off on future requests to widen it.

      Shame shame

    2. Both the Va'ad and their enemies are equally useless. They both bleat and talk and produce nothing. The anti-Va'ad people have nothing to show for themselves, as does the Va'ad. The idea that supporting those who talk against the Va'ad gets us anywhere is just wrong.

The noisemakers are noisemakers. They weren't arrested, it was those who have nothing to do with politics who suffered. Those noisemakers are still busy with their messiros and nonsense. They have helped nobody and only made a bunch of noise. As the Lubavitcher song goes עך טי דורין מארקא טשטאטי יעדעש נא יארמארקו, ניע קופליאעש ניע פראדאיעש טאלקא ראביש סווארקו.

Whatever sway AK used to have is now out the window now that he announced he's stepping down as CEO. Couldn't he have waited until AFTER the election so he could milk all he could from Murphy? Well now we're stuck in the mud. Murphy owes us nothing. Might as well vote for the Republican and follow Daas TORAH!
