Murphy Campaigns in Lakewood

Gov  Phil Murphy was in  Lakewood today visiting and meeting with various community organizations capped by a election fundraiser event at a private home. His wife Tammy Murphy held a meet and greet in Lakewood for Orthodox Jewish women who work with the community. There were a few people with Trump flags standing near the motorcade. Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli will campaign in Lakewood on Thursday.

  1. A disgrace to shlep r malkiel and other rabbonim to visit murphy. Thats not the way it works. If he wants he should visit them. Also murphy get up and give the rosh hayeshiva the head of the table. You knucklehead

    1. The blame is on the askanim of the Vaad who've made it clear over the years that they don't really speak for the Rosh Yeshiva. Now the Roshei Yeshiva had to show everyone they hold strongly to vote for Murphy.

  3. This is all due to those who claimed that the VAAD and the Roshei Yeshiva are two separate entities.

The thing is, most of us are not in that tax bracket. Why is this our problem? How are we supposed to care? Each person should vote their own interests, not someone else's.

Btw, what crime did he commit? Pursuing policies that you don't agree with, is not a crime. And being a liberal is also not.

    4. What does liberal or conservative have to do with religion? In this country as Tocqueville said, religion is kept out of politics, for once the clergy are involved, they become the objects of contempt. Traditionally, NO AMERICAN clergyman will tell someone who to vote for. I am not talking about the foreign element that came after WWII and never acculturated in American values in the public schools.

If I am for a clean environment (EPA was created during Nixon), if I am for helping the poor, or whatever side I take on any issue, I have a right to remain in the religion. Keep religion and politics separate. John Locke, Adam Smith, even Milton Friedman considered themselves liberals. We live in a "liberal republic," in contrast to the "civic republic," such as Rome before the principate of Augustus.

      Delete
    5. Mr COhen - you need to learn to read and write in full sentences. Being liberal is not a crime. The OP called Murphy a 'criminal', which is untrue.

Your religion of conservatism is another issue. I was never baptized into it, and I did not attend an American Public School. I wasn't taught that the Torah supports conservative or republican policies any more than liberal ones. The Torah does not mandate lower taxes, 'trickle down economics', the right to bear arms, or a flag burning amendment to the constitution. Perhaps there is another religion out there that believes in those things, my Cheder didn't teach comparative religion. Of course, we did not receive government money, so we weren't told what to teach. Perhaps those who support 'school choice' aka 'vouchers' think differently and want the government mandating what the schools teach. I don't know. ื•ืื ื™ ื•ื‘ื™ืชื™ ื ืขื‘ื•ื“ ืืช ื”ื•ื™"ื”

    Weak defense to hide behind
Everyone here is well aware the term liberal being used in the colloquial socio-political rather than the classic sense.
We've been discussing early 20th century Continental Europe?

For the record the last several years there has been Publications by commentators such as Patrick Deneen who have made the argument that liberalism even its classical form was doomed to fizzle

Tocqueville was the one who set the tone how the US system and Ethos was informed by biblical values and how that built up the whole edifice ,for the many others who have since noted after him. So the name dropping was specious.

Furthermore, classic liberalism has been on life support and virtually dead already since the 1920s since the 1920s when women suffrage and Hollywood turn the US away from the biblical Concepts and Plato's Republic which drove it
Notable personalities and communities manage to keep it on track somewhat for close to another Century, but all good things must come to an end.

Regarding "the foreign element" that came later
as their alliances and coalitions with Spurious influences for the sake of short-term communal gain
    reference therefore
is a farce as their term of religion help Drive America away from the values and precepts intended to be at its core

Additionally we're not referring to religion with ritualistic form(includes lighting Hanukkah menorahs in the Public Square)
    or
Authorized state-sponsored denomination which would be inappropriate but in context Is irrelevant except as a foil

    is inappropriate

We follow our Torah as it was taught to us by the ื—ื›ืžื™ ื”ืžืกื•ืจื”. They wrote down their opinions, and we have entire libraries dedicated to their works. NONE of them taught us that we need to care about elevating the outside world, NONE of them thought that we need to change Goyishe laws, NONE of them taught us that we need to join the Goyishe world and translate their values into ours.

This new-fangled religion, that confuses politics, power, Christian values, the constitution, and Torah, is not traditional, not supported by Torah sources and a strange plant in the vineyard of Klal Yisroel.

    1. Let us see, perhaps there are people here who know some history who can explain what the Bolsheviks were doing to Yidden.
Some people base their decisions on what they see and understand. They don't know history and ignore it.
Others know history and understand it, and use it to inform them.

You, Mr/Mrs Cohen, are an amalgamation of the two. You have no clue about history, yet use it as 'proof'.

For everyone else, the Bolsheviks ruled over millions of Jews, and forced them to Shmad. They didn't allow Yidden to keep Torah. They prevented Chadarim and Yeshivos from existing, and they killed people who taught Torah. My own great-grandfather was arrested twice by the Bolsheviks. Just for teaching Torah. That is why we should have been Moser Nefesh to fight them. Not because they opposed trickle-down economics, or because they permitted abortion.

Mr/Mrs Cohen, if you want to quote Torah, learn it first. If you want to quote history, study it first.
      Otherwise, you just sound stupid........
