- A case of polio has been reported in Rockland, county, NY officials have confirmed. The viral disease, which can cause neurological symptoms, paralysis or death, had been considered eradicated in the U.S. for decades. The person, a young adult, was hospitalized but is no longer, officials confirmed. Officials said the person had presented with paralysis but wouldn’t say if the person was still dealing with that side effect. The person is no longer able to transmit the virus, officials said. The person had not been vaccinated against polio, health officials said.

- A spokesperson for Gov Murphy  that Murphy's planned speech at the NAACP convention last night was canceled because his flight home from Italy was delayed.

- Biden tests positive for Covid, experiencing mild symptoms First lady Jill Biden said she tested negative and that the president is “doing fine." Biden, 79, is being treated with the antiviral Paxlovid and is fully vaccinated and twice boosted, the statement said. White House Covid coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said Biden is tired, has a runny nose and a dry cough. Jha said Biden felt fine when he went to bed, but didn't sleep well.

- Lakewood zoning board approved - an application seeking to add 300 cars to Lanes Mill Road, one of the last remaining empty lots adjacent to the Lakewood / Brick border. The Township's existing zoning ordinances permit for less than half the amount of homes on this tract. Members said for the first time in a while, the Board is fortune enough to approve a development with townhomes which "for the first time, will actually be affordable for current Lakewood residents instead of only for New Yorkers". It will have 26 townhouses and 43 duplexes. Others argued if the applicant truly wants to build affordable homes he should build only townhomes and no duplexes more at FAA

  1. On second thought I guess by dint of the fact that he is a rosh yeshiva of a premier torah institution that makes it more of a klal yisroel thing

    1. In the late 70s early 80s 3 relatively young roshei yeshiva were niftar, Rabbi Gedalya Schorr, Rabbi Boruch Sorotzkin, and Rabbi Shneur Kotler. At that time Rav Moshe & Rav Aaron were alive so the pain on a klall level was not felt but after 1986 there was a huge void in the leadership of the American yeshiva oilam mainly due to the 3 young roshei yeshiva who were niftar young.

    1. As author of said comments I can tell you that it took a few hours til it initially made it on so there was obviously some internal debate about it and can only guess that a after posting it he either got some flak over it or reconsidered
