Yahrtzeit Tribute & Siyum le'iluy nishmas Horav Hagaon R' Yankel Cohen zt"l of Telz Yeshiva by Horav Michoel Sorotzkin A siyum and hespeidim by upon the first Yahrtzeit of Hagaon Reb Yisroel Yaakov Cohen zt"l r"m in Yeshivas Telz in Cleveland was held in the presence of many talmidim, admirers and a large tzibur of lomdei Torah and choshuve baalebatiom on Motzaei Shabbos Va'eira 5782 in Bnai Yeshurun Shul in Teaneck NJ

    Harav Reb Yankel Ztz"l was a real Adam Gadol. Lo Posak Pumei Megirsa. A tremendous hefsed for the entire olam hatora. He was a boki in entire sha"s.
    Just listened to this beautiful hesped. I never knew he was niftar on the same day of Rav ELya Meir Ztz"l.

    Reb Yankel Cohen A"H was the biggest talmid chochom Telz in America ever produced.
    The story goes that at the day of his chassuna , Rav Gifter gad to shlepp him away from the gemoro to the Chupa saying: "Ginuk- Yankel".

    Hesped is simply fabulous. Speaker did a great job.
    Reb Yankel is missed by all.

      These type of 'biggest' comments are never helpful. Speak about his greatness and diligence - which wass so much - without the need to compare to others. (Reb Yankel ZT"L would not appreciate these comparisons.) Y'he zichro boruch!

      The wedding story sounds completely natural to those who merited to know Reb Yankel

    The story with the wedding
    Took place at the wedding in New York

    In Telshe there is a Minhag that the Chosson says Torah before the Chuppah at the Kabolas Ponim

    Reb Yankel started saying Torah for close to an Hour when Rav Gifter who was at the Chassanuh stopped him and Said "Yankel Genuk shoin es is Faran a Chuppah Heint" or something similar

    On the Day of Reb Yankel Cohen Wedding his father Reb Louie Cohen flew in from Chicago to Cleveland and came to the Yeshiva where Reb Yankel was learning and he told Reb Yankel you are getting Married this Evening in New York
    You need to close the Gemara now and come with me to New York , we will fly there now together for your Chassunah
