  1. Buying a house today with the plan to rent out the basement is a completely different discussion #1 houses today are way more #2 you are only buying the house because you can get 2k on a rental.. its a different discussion to a person who purchased a home with no plan on getting half of his mortgage getting paid by a poor renter...

  2. When I bought my house I paid market rate at the time. When renting a basement you should pay the market rate at that time not the time your landlord bought his house. When rent goes down to 900 will the tenants insist on paying 1000 or 1200?

    1. You 'should' pay the market rate.
Is this a מצוה דאורייתא or דרבנן?
      Are ladies also מחוייבות?

    2. no, it's just common sense that you pay the market rate just like when you go into a store, assuming there is no lease still in effect.

      Who wins?

    4. really ? dovid hamelech said something about the rental market ? or that you shouldn't pay market prices ??

    5. Learn and you will know.
The possuk in Tehillim says שבור זרוע רשע, and Chazal tell us (in Berachos and Megillah) that it is referring to מייקרי השער. These are people who increase the prices that people have to pay, just because they can. They did not produce any more value, it didn't cost them any more to produce the product. Yet they increased the price. Either because they cornered the market, or because they persuaded the other sellers to increase the price, or because they found desperate customers.

This idea called 'market price' is not from the Torah, and שער שבשוק does not mean that.

  3. Did Amudim mention their affiliation with zaka usa or do they pick and choose what to publicize and what to hide.

    2. No one is giving "hespedim" for Meshi Zahav though.

Is there any sort of comparison between the two???? MS personally hurt any people. RLM hurt no one. The Amudim CEO has never taken responsibility for promoting and encouraging MS.

    3. Amudim should be ashamed of what they did The Torah world should not support them for badmouthing one of the biggest marbitzei Torah of the last 50 years.
Rav Elya Brudny was at the Levaya. The ceo did mot acknowledge that in 1980 RLM went to a bais din and acted based on what he was told.

Lets see the ceo call out Zaka who he is affiliated with

    4. from the inside: amudim always was chatzi treif , not one respected menahel would call them - the most a rav does is say if u want maybe they can help , rav brudny feels that there should be an address for those who dont trust the frum community - the success rate is unfortunately very minimal ( not their fault)

  4. Please don’t confuse us with common sense and stop ripping off the poor yungeleit. Remember it’s a chesed apartment that’s what it says in the torah.

  5. Dovid hamelech says renters should pay below market rate? That’s interesting

    1. You can do whatever you want! You dont have to do any chessed either unless you get your photo in the paper. How about looking at it that this family needs a place to live and it would really hurt them to spend most of their income on a rental. youn had a plan when you purchased the home - continue with the plan and let this young couple who cant afford to purchase a home not be the ones stuck paying off half of your mortgage..

  6. Murphy, Say better! It's like walking around with an AK-47 shooting everyone you see! The unchecked lying that he gets away with is sickening. Every expert agrees - the vaccine is not effective in stopping the spread of omicron. Is there really no journalist out there that will question his outrageous claims? The lies that the politicians have said between the masks stopping a wave to antibodies not being an effective protection - why is the Omicron wave subsiding is it because of the masks? the closures? or because it ran its month in half course like every other wave.

  7. Amudim is not run by a Ben Torah, it is not run Al pi hashkafas HaTorah, and should never be considered amongst the right-wing organizations.

They have never acted as b'nei Torah. Farkert, their CEO is anti Yeshiva. Somehow they got one Gadol/Askan to give his shtempel to them. This never made them Kosher. They're more comfortable with the Pope than they are with the Gedolim.

And while we're on the subject, why are all the lines between Aguda types of organizations and MO organizations being crossed. Why are OU, Artscroll, TU and Aguda all running programs, apps, advertisements together? Why are they all sharing the same speakers?!? Why is TU being hosted in a MO YU shul the week after a missionary galach?!?

What happened to us?!? Why are the Gedolim allowing this?!? We need Reb Elya Svei and Reb Mordechai Gifter back ASAP!!

    1. Who said we need right wing taliban inc? We need people putting 'michos' on BMG boards about speakers who they dont like? Is that what your frum world represents making michos?

    2. It makes me nauseous when high school drop outs open "originations" for the frum community and then they feel they have ta license to regurgitate all the twisted shitas about every subject that they know zero about

    3. As someone who was a big anti YU kanoi when I was learning in Brisk but now have a son there (who otherwise would be on the streets r'l) keep your kanous for offline and to the crwod of people who will think they never need YU and the MO world

      Boz L'Dovor Yachavel Lo...

Because my son is in YU you want that he SHOULDN"T hear shiurim and associate with Talmedey Chachomim from the Olam HaTorah? Do you think he doesn't realize that when a non YU Talmid Chochom speaks there it does NOT imply an endorsement of YU but it DOES say that even if you are in YU you can shtell tzu to the the same Torah as the Olam Hayeshivas?

    4. Depends which part, which faculty

Even if your family is being helped, of necessity for the forward progress of the klal it should be kept under the table

  8. To all those advocating for lower rent for my basement because when I bought my home you know what plan I had and therefore I could never make any more than that “plan”. I could also give away half my paycheck if you want, when I bought my house I don’t recall dedicating my basement to chesed but I’m definitely willing to discuss dedication opportunities with you. The name is still available as well as a few shearim.

  9. When a yungerman sells his used car, make sure not to charge the full market value. He should only charge the new buyer what he thought he would get 10 years ago when he first bought it.
