- 303 new covid cases in Lakewood totals 21907/335
- 109 new cases in Jackson totals 11367/130
- 222 new cases in Toms River totals 19238/371

- Update BMG to purchase a 44 acre parcel of land from Georgian court college that will include 13 buildings and 465 apartments between 14th street Forest and 9th street. The units will be part of the yeshiva apartments for kollel youngeleit learning in Beth Medrash Govoha. (Article in TVOL)

 - 2:30 pm Supreme court  blocks the Biden administration's OSHA vaccine mandate for businesses but court ALLOWS a vaccine mandate for workers at federally funded health care facilities to take effect nationwide.

- A winter storm that is expected to bring a messy mix of rain, sleet and snow to New Jersey on Sunday night into Monday could also include winds gusts of up to 60 mph and coastal flooding, forecasters say.  AccuWeather early forecast is calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow across most of the NJ

-  Biden: "I make a special appeal to social media companies and media outlets  please deal with the misinformation and disinformation that's on your shows. It has to stop."

- New Jersey on Thursday reported another 117 Covid deaths and 20,338 confirmed positive tests.
- 55 Deaths in nursing homes in the last 2 days. They are 93% fully vaccinated and 80% boosted, but we get to hear weekly how breakthrough deaths from Murphy are 0. Media silent. Murphy has mentioned Monoclonals once in a  year. (Murphy critics)
 
- Name to daven is Mordechai ben Shira Golda. A Frum Jackson resident missing in New Orleans: The New Orleans Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a man last heard from a day after arriving in New Orleans on business last week. According to an NOPD report, 33-year-old Michael Gelfand arrived on Jan. 5 for business and has not been in contact since Jan. 6, which was the same day he was slated to return to his home state of New Jersey. see photo here 

 -U.S. reports more than 900,000 new coronavirus cases, biggest one-day increase on record

- Lakewood township committee today will vote on giving themselves raises. A vote on free health insurance for life after retirement for members who served 20 years on the committee. Another vote will give members of the MUA a $15k annual compensation up from the current 5k. Comments may be made via email up until 11:30 am on the day of the meeting at premeetingcomments@lakewoodnj.gov or during the meeting via comments@lakewoodnj.gov

- Tuition assistance: "Someone on the call mentioned that a conservative think tank had done a study on the American Rescue Plan — a Covid relief effort — and they felt very confident the money could be used for tuition aid. - A 25-year-old Lakewood man was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday for the murder in coventry square last year of a 20-year-old from Little Egg Harbor, which authorities have said was the result of a drug deal gone bad. 

- Over 48,000 new covid cases in Israel,  283 in serious condition, with 65 on ventilators.

- Overnight, 2 IDF officers were killed during a security patrol near an IDF base in the Jordan Valley. The officers were misidentified & mistakenly killed by IDF fire.

  1. Regarding the Mishpacha article linked above, it's a little known fact that NJ is one of just a handful of states that DON'T have a Blaine amendment. Meaning, there is nothing in our state constitution stopping our state from funding religious schools directly.
    Obviously, though, our government hasn't got the $ or inclination, and it certainly would have the potential to lead to aiva.

  2. Why is Agudah making a whole fanfare about this tuition grant. Millions of dollars was given to lakewood township from the American rescue plan.
    what did the politicians do with the money that should have gone to the residents of lakewood in the first place. This grant is throwing a few crumbs to make themselves look good while they are sitting on millions that Biden sent them

  4. are people really signing up/eligible for this tuition grant? i have a feeling the rules are going to be tweaked as to have your agi lower in 2020 than 2019 is that really common?

    AK and Yudel live at the entrance to Georgian Court and have both fought hand in glove to prevent Carey Stret opening for College to Forest
    Yudels has no such knowledge and says this AK published a story on his way out of Lakewood.
