Letter from Rav Yehoshua Eichenstein shlita Rosh Yeshiva Yad Aaron in Yerushalayim on the current events
Ami magazine this weeks issue

  1. in response to rabbi eichenstein's letter, the discussion was never about the victims saying Loshon Horah, it was about about the general public. and as of now without widespread publicity, these types of people will never be stopped or held accountable, they will succesfully deny everything. and Rabbi Eichenstein did not address this problem at all.

as a lawyer involved in this mess said:
the most dangerous part of this has been the lectures against lashon hara, for one simple reason: The Charedi community has not offered any alternative. To frighten people about speaking lashon hara about a matter like this only worsens the situation.

“I missed [the point], and I missed it in a huge way. At the hesped, I spoke about lashon hara, and I now realize that only exacerbates the problem, if certain other prerequisites are not first met.

    1. The torah is nitzchiyus and emotions do not take precedence.
In any case it is not mutar for anyone to spread rumors no matter how pure the motive is.
Even to save lives you can't slander someones name just because someone you trust told you they hurt them.

    2. R' Yitzchok Berkowitz said it is not lashon hara to speak about this. So there is a chilukei deos apparently.

  2. Welcome to corrupt Lakewood where self serving politicians appoint themselves and unelected non Lakewood residents to boards that pays them lucrative salaries and gives them free medical benefits as they take more money from the working poor and seniors while raising their own salaries.
It makes no difference that ray coles did not vote he is just as responsible he could have vocally opposed it or brought it to the attention of the public on his self controlled ask the mayor column. This is what happens when there are no term limits they forget about the people who voted for them.

  3. the Yated in Israel ran a statement approved by Rav Edelstein which says that victims of abuse should go to rabbinically-approved organizations to deal with it (note that there was one such an organization in Bnei Brak, and it was headed by Chaim Walder), and that these things must be dealt with quietly, and the press must not report them.

    1. You are peddling internet rumors as truth. CW did not head that organization at all, it was under Reb Nissim's Beis Din.

    2. then why didn't Reb Nissim's Beis din do anything in this case ?

    1. Reb Elyashiv was quite clear about the T case. There was no shaala that he needed to testify there, it was the only thing that could be done at the time.

    1. Your kids already know everything. They heard about in yeshiva. This is a great opportunity to start the conversation with them, so they'll hear about it from you, on your terms, with your hashkafa.

    2. Here's what I'm telling my kids (comment on YWN)

The rogue so-called dayan/”rabbi” who conducted a “beit din” trial in absentia, KNEGED HALACHA, has no credibility whatsoever, his a Kangaroo “beit din” notwithstanding. Rav Gershon Edelstein shlita said, as a result of his pubic accusations without a true Beis Din, that fellow with the kipa sruga covered up by a black hat lost his chelek in Olam Habah, he has blood on his hands and is responsible for driving the person to mental insanity resulting in taking his own life.

There is not even a single accuser against him. Other than anonymous claims by anonymous third parties. None first hand. 22 people did NOT go to beit din. The so-called beit din had *third parties* testify (allegedly) on behalf and in the name of the 22. But the supposed 22 never showed up to that “beit din” that, kneged halacha, accepted testimony outside the presence of the accused. For all anyone knows there could have only been 2 accusers with the rest fictitious; or none at all. And it could all be complete lies. All made only to the media or a kangaroo so-called beit din that operated kneged halacha.

HaGaon Haav Gershon Edelstein shlita denounced the travesty that was done against Walder, leading to his going insane and taking his life. Rav Edelstein said that person has Walder’s blood on his hands.

    1. Here we go with the lashon horah lesheim mitzva type..

  8. All of this misses the point. The whole Heter to talk about it and let people know that someone is suspected is only to stop others from possibly being harmed by him. In this case now that the alleged perp is no longer a threat there is no heter to keep bashmutzing him. The victims should get all the help they need from therapists etc. but grandstanding in public is just troublemaking.

    1. 1. The key word is ALLEGED, thank you.
      2. You are right on. There is no point nor heter to be talking about this.
