- At least two Lakewood Middle School girls basketball players endured racial slurs and taunts  from opposing players during a game Wednesday in Barnegat. Superintendent of Barnegat schools said the comments should have been brought to the attention of the referees and coaches during the game “so they could be addressed immediately” and not by Lakewood first issuing a statement to the media. - A Lakewood police officer suffered a concussion and a fracture in an accident on Route 88 in Brick Thursday morning at 8am.  Three vehicles were involved. The officer was treated and released and is home recovering, An investigation into the accident is continuing. The accident happened  near the entrance to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, between Fort Street and Edge streets. (APP)
