  1. How about we also do away with public school mandated bussing as well as before and after school programs including sports for the public school which (while important) are NOT mandated by law. That will save a few million dollars also.

And how about enforcing that only residents of Lakewood can use our public schools. If we cut down the number of students by the hundreds that don't live in Lakewood, that would save a lot of money.

    1. The Education Law Center is clearly biased against the private school community, as they are demanding that the only “non-mandated’ services to be taken away are from the private school children, while they leave all of the public school children’s “non-mandated” services wholly intact.

Besides, safety bussing is much more important than after-school activities.

Why should these people even have their ridiculous opinions considered??

  2. Why are so many out of Lakewood students coming to Lakewood?

    1. Because it is over 95% Hispanic. English is a 2nd language. Even the food menu has been changed to reflect their culture. Many started out in Lakewood but then when their houses were knocked down for new housing, and they were forced out of district, they still send their kids to Lakewood. Either they drop them off on their way to work or they pick them up from their bus stops where they are "officially" registered and drive home from there.

All you need is one piece of paper with your name and a Lakewood address and the school accepts you. So each utility bill is under a different name, you get a bank statement or credit card sent there. Not too many questions. It is not logical that with all the reduced housing for the minorities, somehow the number of students increases every year!

    2. Very interesting numbers should definitely be going down every year not up , but i would think jackson is also already a large percent hispanic and probably a better school system

  3. Please don't take the Education Law Center too seriously. It's just one person's (extreme) opinion.

  5. Let’s not forget that if we send our kids to public school there will be mixed male/female classes and it is against federal and state law to segregate the goys and the two. Also, they will have to take 6 hours of secular education Monday through Friday regardless. There is no legal exception for taking off or excluding curriculum that the state has approved.

Also, if we don’t back up the threat to send all of our kids to the public school then the state will call our bluff, sue the town for fraud and they could have the legal right to never give a dime to the township.

    1. The already don't. They use us as their personal piggy bank, endlessly lending us loans on interest. It's not fun being used year after year.

    2. ridiculous! "if we don’t back up the threat to send all of our kids to the public school..." Haha- what do you think this is, government owned kids? Every parent will decide if they want to sign up for public school or not... "sue the town for fraud" What does the town have to do with any of this? You are clearly mixed up or trying to push an agenda.

  6. I would not worry about it to much..the Non Jewish population in Lakewood keeps shrinking every year the 5000 Kids that are now in public school will one day be 200 kids

    1. Actually, the numbers are INCREASING every year. It is up to 6,500 students. They keep coming from out of district. But the BOE administrators look the other way because increasing enrollment keeps their jobs secure.
