Thursday March 4th News Updates Lakewood

-45 new covid cases in Lakewood totals 12582/281

- Lakewood Township committee discuss to pass a ordinance that will restrict Marijuana for children to get their hands on it but fall short of banning the sale of pot in Lakewood asking that it fall within the new guidelines allowed by Gov Murphy

-Effective March 19 Connecticut is lifting ALL capacity limits on restaurants, retail, libraries, personal services, indoor recreation, gyms, museums, offices & houses of worship 

- Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq lose all their gains for the year as stock sell-off picks up (CNBC).

-NY no longer requires quarantine for out of state travelers
-Murphy signed a bill into law protecting toeva lgbtq patients in nursing homes by requiring long term care centers to permit transgendered people to choose a roommate based on their gender identity and prohibits forbidding residents from using restrooms based on gender. It also give residents the right to use a chosen name or pronouns, to wear clothing of their choice, and a right to have visitors of their choice.

-Senator Joe Pennacchio called on the New Jersey Legislature to follow New York’s lead and strip away Governor Murphy’s Pandemic emergency powers.
- Murphy signed Executive Order No. 229, extending a moratorium preventing New Jersey residents from having their utilities disconnected through at least June 30, 2021. 
- Ocean County Commissioners introduced their annual budget today. Thanks to spending cuts and revenue from new construction, Lakewood homeowners will see a reduction of approximately $150-300 in annual taxes from the county portion. (Reporter Moshe)
-Lakewood township will vote tonight to change the name A Portion Of Parkview Avenue To Kiryas Sanz Avenue And A Portion Of Edgecomb Avenue To Shefa Chaim 
-Leaders at the U.S Catholic Bishops are discouraging Catholics from using the new Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine citing the use of cells with a distant link to abortion in the development of the vaccine, a spokesperson for Johnson & Johnson said “There is no fetal tissue in our Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
