  5. One of the tricks of the MDY entertainment industry is to pretend that any criticism is about 'iyun vs. bekius', or some other peripheral issue. Their adherents have been trained to suspend their brains, after years of entertainment based shiurim, so they fall for it.

If MDY wants to teach Daf Yomi, if it was truly about learning, he should remove the entertainment factor. Stop with the merch, don't read inspiring/entertaining emails, no more silly props and jokes (some of which skirt the borders of appropriate). Learn the Daf, say it clearly, taste and enjoy the kashe and teirutz of the Gemara, and that will spill over to the listeners.

When the OTD girl posted profane videos about the daily daf, everyone understood that it was inappropriate, even as it was 'getting people to learn'.

    2. The shiur is clearly not your style- please keep your “hate” to yourself. You are writing loshon hora besides your ideas and problems are nonsensical

    3. Yes I agree MDYis doing it all wrong! and do you know why he attracts so many because there is a hugh vacuum no one else is offering anything. So how about quitting criticizing and offering a shiur for the working folk instead of talking about torah start teaching it.......

    1. yes, all the defenses for MDY always end up being: It's either this or nothing, and this is better than nothing. similar to several other things in Jewish history...

    2. Okay it doesn't have to be this or nothing but lets for a moment discuss why we have so much talk and so much nothing.

    3. So much talk?!
I have never heard or read a negative word about MDY. It's always 'wow!' and Kiddush Hashem, and other such inanities. One person writes what many people are thinking, and now it becomes 'so much talk'?!

MDY is a symptom of today's problems, as well as a driver, pushing our generation to lower standards. It needs to be called out.

His Shiur should continue, but become serious, without the merch, props, or emails.

    4. Well stated. There used to sort of been classes that operated like his does-behind doors in Modern opulent synagogues. But they wouldn't have been accepted near our kreizzen

  7. I noticed that people are attacking the person who doesn't like MDY, without actually addressing his points.
