The decision to discuss pornograpjy so open at the convention Q and A means there's an epidemic that is going on and there has to be a public awareness for all those suffering from the nisayon
There is also an epidemic to be popular never in history have people gone so far out to get their names in the news. Huge misconception out there that today we can talk about all these issues which have never been spoken about because today it is epidemic. A decision has been made by the r Chaim volozhiner see kesser rosh 137.(And extensive commentary by his students in the new edition) That chewing over these issues just makes the issue worse not better. So they didnt discuss these issues not because there was no need but rather since they understood that combat these issues silence works best.
When they have lost their last focus on a larger picture, they're reduced to harping on such sort of things
We by comparison flourished so much back when we kept the lid smothering over so many important-to some-topics whether at Convention,Jewish Observer,etc..that various Agudah personages invariably held a need of the moment to discuss,in the earlier decades.Somehow. How? Were some individuals hurt by the covering over?Yes,there were. Overall we flourished remarkably superior to now.
Can we review all the comments like yours, written and spoken over the decades and see if they ever accomplished anything. Better yet, what about the people who make them....
Raised a valuable comment? I've been hearing that comment from those who say a lot and do nothing of note for over forty years already.. Agudah has done plenty in those forty years. The people who make those comments ..remind me again of what they have done other than talk.
Can you name a single effort or cause or need which aguda has filled in the last 20-30 years?? It was not created to lobby the government or to get grants for whatever worthy cause. It was created to be a beacon of light and a forum presenting the proper hashkafa for the masses. FAILED!! The aguda convention was created to be a once a year uplifting informative forum for Bnai Torah to hear the word of the gedolei yisroel not for some public relations company to decide what the theme is (in the variably plain vanilla flavor to avoid any controversy)and all speakers need to tow the line. Hilariously foolish.
I'm being dan lkaf zchus that some of this bitterness towards Aguda is coming from people who have no parnoassah so right there I'll point out that Agudah has found thousands of people jobs with PCS. AND they fought for those on welfare. The Shuvu school system in Eretz Yisroel was started by Rav Pam at an Agudah convention. There is plenty more but I'll stop here. The whiners are going to continue whining instead of doing anything themselves anyway
Exactly the point .Rav pam mentioned shuvu at a aguda convention And then what? Did aguda take the lead role? Absolutely not .they did absolutely nothing! Rav pam carried the entire burden on his own shoulders......
I guarantee that had you asked Rav Pam if he has hakoros hatov to Aguda for giving him a venue to launch Shuvu or is he kvetching that they did not do enough for it, he would have said the former.

ReplyDeleteThey have been discussing the same topic for sixty years. They have a three or four year cycle since who knows when.
Deleteit doesn't mean anything. at most, it means that Agudah needs to go all out to get attention.

It means they feel comfortable discussing. Nothing about decision or epidemics.

Can we review the footage last year and see if a SINGLE issue they spoke about "addressing" was addressed and made progress.

DeleteHe raised a valuable comment.Has there been substantive difference or just belly patting noise?
DeleteEmpty useless retort

DeleteThat shuvu was because it was right after they squelched a competing Degel H which was on the verge of being transplanted to America
DeleteWhat does AGUDA do????

Deletethey never miss an opportunity to do absolutely nothing.
