- Governor Phil Murphy signs new law that would give children access to obscene materials at the library according to Republicans
The “Freedom to Read Act” limits book bans in public schools and libraries and shields librarians from lawsuits and criminal charges filed by folks who find library materials obscene or otherwise objectionable.
Republicans and conservative activists have fought the measure, warning it would give children access to obscene materials and protect librarians who share obscene books with children.“The legislation that Governor Murphy signed today eliminates longstanding protections that have successfully kept explicit and obscene materials out of the hands of minors for generations,” the delegation said.
school libraries should serve as "peaceful places for learning," rather than housing materials they consider lewd or inappropriate.
"Enabling the distribution of obscene material is reprehensible," "but absolving accountability for its distribution is heinous and inexcusable."

ReplyDeleteIt was a deflection from the traffic and over development they did and try to blame any opposition as anti Semitic
Sorry that trick won't work anymore

With great respect: the ridiculous number of posts on this blog regarding “rebbes coming to Lakewood” and “conducting “ various things has reached a level of absurdity. Enough. Let them come, let their mispalelim hear them. The sheer number of Rebbes itself has gotten to be absurd - it’s exactly like Chabad - a rebbe per neighborhood. I’m sure they’re fine people - but every Rov in a shul in Lakewood is also a fine person.
ReplyDeleteCan't we get already the final conclusion of the whole shebang? Finito. Everybody or their neighbor is officially now a rebbe.
DeleteA library is a public place.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want your children to read certain books, it is your job to stay on top of them. Censorship is dangerous, and we should have no part in it.
By that logic any danger should be allowed in public places. Not only that the government should be the ones to sponsor it. With all the self righteous talk the is NO group that does not practice censorship towards material they believe to be harmful to them. You just want kids to have access to pornography because you don't see the danger
DeleteGet rid of the stupid library! I'm not interested in forced membership to something I dont need, want or approve of. Anyone who wants a membership can kindly pay their own dues.
DeleteIt's up to the local library board to regulate books.
DeleteJoin the board, and you'll have a say in it, whether the libs like it or not. In Lakewood case, it's an Ocean County thing.
By the way, there is a lot of material promoting alternative lifestyle highly visible in Lakewood Library.
