  1. The shul on Pine St has a 2nd agenda. They want to build the shul in a way that Arlington St never gets opened. To really alleviate the traffic, it should be opened at some point.

    1. Are you for real?? They are going to spend millions on a shul just to make sure that Arlington does not get opened?? They are building a Shul because they need a suitable sized building. Why does everything have to be assumed to have a hidden agenda??

    2. Arlington Street must get opened to Pine. The traffic on MLK is a disaster. Plus, there were recent approvals on MLK & Pine which haven't been developed yet and will make the craziness even worse than it already is.

    3. Of course they need a shul and should have one. But they should NOT be able to build in a way that blocks access to opening that street. Let them do it right.

    4. That street will never open, there are too many powerful people that want it closed.
And TBH, there isn't as much of a need for it to open as there used to be.
We need solutions for the traffic in this town, but we need shuls too. No reasonable application for a shul should ever be opposed. אל תגעו במשיחי

    5. Arlington is not wide enough for 2 way traffic, would have to become a one way street if its opened.

    7. Just because there are a few selfish people in the neighborhood that want to keep the township owned road closed for their personal benefits - is no reason to give in to their self-centered opinions.

The as-yet-unpaved road belongs to ALL the people of Lakewood. Why should all of us that have to drive on these streets be forced to suffer with crazy traffic because some self-serving powerful interests refuse to alleviate the constantly-getting-worse traffic problems??

If every resident on a through street were to get his selfish way and close his road from through traffic there would be total chaos in the streets. Plus, these same selfish Arlington St residents would be screaming about how unfair it is!

OPEN THE ROAD TO THE RESIDENTS AND GET IT PAVED!

  2. Bakery department printed out a label for a danish yesterday $3.99! I told them to put it right back on the shelf. Used to be a danish and a slice of pizza were each a dollar. I haven’t seen pizza pies going for $32. Companies keep pushing the pricing envelope and blaming it on inflation- except that they are raising prices over 4 times the rate of inflation.

A 12oz package of meal mart hot dogs has doubled to around 8.79 at most Lakewood supermarkets. At $17 a pound that’s triple the price of premium chopped meat.

Companies have used consumers acceptance of inflation to increase prices substantially more than the rate of inflation, and many are reporting the best margins and profits in years as a result of their pricing power. That is slowly starting to come to an end.
In the non Jewish grocery scene retailers are starting to report pushback from consumers over higher prices. Proctor and Gamble is warning about pricing power going forward as they see consumers start to balk at the repeated price increases.

When will kosher shoppers balk and push back? Expect continued incremental price increases and companies continue to push the envelope until they do.

    1. Or they will keep prices the same and just shrink the size of goods (as is happening already)

    2. Thank You for Balking - the fact is as long as people don't blink at prices the prices will continue to rise. Did the bakery ever think that maybe they don't need to make as much money as they were making when prices were down? Why can't stores take a hit too? I was in Canada The price for A bag of Golden Fluff kfp potato stix was 1.99 Cad - In Lakewood where the manufacturer is located 2.29 USD+! Look around the price of gas is overall more in Lakewood than the immediate surrounding towns why?Because no one blinks. A bagel that was a 1.00 now 1.30 that is a huge increase! The price for a flour in Aldi is only 1.56 a very minimal increase. Time to start buying bread and rolls from Walmart - Will see how fast these prices start coming down..
