Yeshiva Ateres Shlomo released new video footage of questions asked to Rav Chaim Kanievsky zatzal by Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin where he says that a Bachur should not snitch on his friends and that a yeshiva should take a boy back after they throw him out for having a smart phone. Another video follows where Reb Chaim is asked to encourage a gvir to donate funds for the new yeshiva building. video has English subtitles
For a smartphone you stay in Yeshiva. For wrong political party voting in local elections when listening to your own Rebbe you get thrown out. Sounds fair an Torahdig.

DeleteI guess one of the differences between me and you is that I don't consider Shalom Ber Sorotzkin a Gadol at all.

Once on the topic of Chutzpa, using a Talmid Chacham of any level, and kal vchomer a gadol the likes of R' Chaim, as a pawn and a puppet for ones own agenda is the definition of chutzpa and bizayon hatoarh.
Whether it is for for tzedaka purposes or any other reason doesn't make much of a diffference.
