Why was our Lag B'omer destroyed? I do not claim to understand the deaths of these 45 in any way shape or form, but for for Lag B'Omer to be disturbed makes sense.
ReplyDeleteLag B'Omer served as break within the minhag that stood for 900 years that we don't make chasunas between Pesach and Shevuos (except for those that start Rosh Chodesh).
Nowadays everyone makes Chasunas other than the 2.5 weeks between Rosh Chodesh and Shevuos. And during that time we make other simchas using so called Acapella music which closely resembles regular simchas. So we don't need Lag B'Omer. So it was taken away!
