Updated: Lakewood Covid vaccination level, at 34%

Update: The state corrected Lakewood covid vaccination level at 34%.

Earlier today Gov Phil Murphy said that Lakewood had the lowest vaccination level in NJ at 10% which turned out to be false. The updated number is 34%. No explanation was given on how the initial data was based.

Murphy spotlighted 16 municipalities with populations of more than 10,000 where fewer than 40% of eligible residents have received an initial dose. Murphy said the state is working with local officials to increase vaccination rates in these and other locations.

New Brunswick has the lowest vaccination level as of late Monday at only 24%, according to the governor’s office.

New Brunswick is followed by Irvington and Phillipsburg at 29% and Camden, East Orange, Pemberton, Perth Amboy and Trenton at 32%.

New Jersey is making an effort to increase vaccine rates in municipalities where few vaccines have been given out. (Gov. Murphy's office)

“Now, to be sure, this is not going to be a competition between towns and communities, or meant to shame any community, but having these numbers out there for everyone to see is important to ensuring that everyone is working and pulling together,” Murphy said, adding that the state is moving into “overdrive.”

The governor said the officials will use several strategies to reach unvaccinated people, which the state has dubbed “Operation Jersey Summer.”

  1. If he'd give kugel/chulent to vax, I'm sure the number well rise very quickly.

Btw, what about rate of infection, I'm sure Lakewood is doing better then most

    1. Cholent and kugel won't pull me to vaccinate with an emergency vaccine that's not tested longer. Homemade cholent and kugel is way better anyway.

  2. Half of Lakewood is not eligible to get the vaccine. Over 13000 had covid and antibodies. This stat is skewed. Murphy should know better

  4. If he wants to increase the vaccination rate in Lakewood, they should make an event with chulent and kugel. בדוק ומנוסה
All of the oiber chachomim will suddenly change their tune, all the idiots bleating about 'the vaccine we don't know the long-term effects of', (ignoring the fact that we don't know the long term effect of covid either) will have their mouths stuffed full of kishke, pickles, Dr pepper and their own well-exercised tongues to say a word.

    Chulent and Kugel, nothing else!

  5. If Lakewood reaches 25% that would be most of the adult population

  6. Just give the askanim a few dollars, they'll figure it out. The school's won't let kids in unless their parents are vaccinated, and the high schools will make it mandatory. This is how you buy compliance in Lakewood.
One good thing that has come out of the politics of it, is that to date they've been careful not to force anyone.
Now that the vaccine is available to anyone that wants, what's the justification for the continued shutdowns. If anyone is concerned, they're welcome to get vaccinated.

  7. lakewood at 10% includes children ?

then its skewed, because lakewood has way more children than other towns, and they are not yet eligible to vaccinate.

    1. Highly doubtful it would be legal to predicate a federal program on a vaccination. If you are so worried about the virus, get the vaccine, what is it you business who else gets one? This vaccine will never lead to herd immunity, as it does not prevent the virus, it only subdues the symtoms

  9. the state corrected this, lakewood is actually at 34 percent

    2. Thank goodness for the seniors and the pregnant women in Lakewood or we'd be in the single digits! Maybe they should promote the vaccine campaign under the "Aivah" Banner.

    3. It would be Aiva to have high vax rates for this sham of a vaccine. Thank goodness we arent as foolish as some would want us to be.
