- Lakewood BOE votes to approve the budget and raises taxes to the maximum allowed of 2% since they are asking for a state loan. Officials complained that charter school tuition paid by the boe went up 2 million a year and will be at 10 million dollars annually in a few years. Transportation went up by 2,3 million since there are 1500 more students. The board asked the state for 71 million loan and are waiting for the state to decide if they can use the money from the 48 million cares funding to reduce the loan.

I dont know how long you've lived in Lakewood, but my taxes along with everyone else's have gone up significantly. The BOE is in debt over 200 MILLION and growing. The only reason they didnt raise taxes was bc of covid their expenses went down and they got federal money. We are the only township that doesnt have normal impact fees on builders and we hand out tax abatements like candy to connected people.

ReplyDeleteBecause other developments are built by profit seeking developers. Viznitz is selling to enable their chasidim to relocate, not for a profit motive.
DeleteLakewood should do like other townships and grant variances based on the selling price of the final developed home, ie; affordable housing.
