Motzei Simchas Torah Lakewood 5781

 A Gezunten Vinter (in its true meaning)

-After gorgeous weather over sukkos with no rain the forecast tonight has Rain Low around 55F. Winds ENE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall possibly over one inch. Tomorrow cloudy and rainy as well.


-Update: As per Agudah of NJ  Rabbi Avi Schnall, Lakewood's Mosdos are currently set to reopen as scheduled after discussions with the Governors office. There may be a protocol of testing for each school. If the numbers go up things may change. (Video on LNN)

152 New positive cases in Lakewood since Erev Yom Tov total. 5327/205

- No official word on schools opening right after yom tov as there are rumors swirling of closing for a week.

- Hakafos in Covid era: Shuls in Lakewood this year had a unique simchas Torah due to covid19. Some shuls had policies of masking and no holding hands or short hakafos outdoors. BMG had a unusual short Hakacos compaerd to a regular year.  Others only let one person holding the sefer torah dance around the bima while the crowd stayed in their place. Additional outdoor minyanim took place to acomodate those exposed ir social distancing. Many yeshivos did not have Hakafos for its talmidim. 

- NYPD arrest activist Heshy Tishler in Boro park tonight right after yom tov for allegations of in inciting violence.

  4. Schools MUST set up COVID testing protocols BEFORE letting any child back into the classroom. We don't want mass spread of the Virus once again. Also, mandating masks, even in the classroom, must be a basic rule.

    1. What does mass testing help? They will segregate classes based on antibodies? So if someone is negative today for COVID they are good for the year? If there is no daily screening mask use and social distancing all this is worthless and just to appease the state to show they have a paper system.

    2. Since numerous studies show the risk In children, as well as their low carrier and transmission rate, there is no need for this. Kids cannot wear masks all day, this is not mentally healthy. We need to weigh the risks, and make educated decisions. The same way we dont outlaw cars even when people die in accidents. And just saying it's a false equivalent doesn't make it so.
