  16. Wear masks in order to save the yeshivos from being closed by Cuomo and Murphy.

If you don't wear masks, you hate the Torah and want yeshivos to be closed.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you wear masks you hate the torah. All mask wearers are encouraging compliance which will guarantee yeshivos be shut down.

      Delete
    2. If you wear a mask you are showing that they have power over our religious life. The BLM movement proved that defiance is the best way to facilitate change. Show the governors that our religious life will continue no matter what their orders are. We are not threatened by their illegal threats. Urging compliance is a tool used by the "askanim" to further their abuse of the community.

      Delete
    3. Love the logic. If you wear a mask, which is no way against the Torah, you are showing they have power over 'our' religious life. Because 'our' religion is against masks. I personally am Jewish, so this has nothing to do with my religion. Perhaps the pastafarians (those who worship lokshen) have such a law, because it prevents them from slurping up their 10 foot spaghetti strings.

It is just possible that the governor will be the one doing the 'showing', not us. He has the police force with him, not us. Open rebellion is only a good idea if you actually have the strength and numbers. Otherwise, keeping a low profile is usually the prudent path.

      Delete
    4. If they see that as a community we are compliant they will find further acts to further their agenda, ie; force vaccines, force testing, forced secular/anti-religious education,
forced LGBT education, etc. I know it sounds far fetched, but history has shown that if a community is compliant, further agenda driven restrictions follow.
Im not saying we should not wear masks, although the science behind it is questionable, but we should not do so when targeted as a community.

      Delete
    5. What do masks have to do with LGBT education?
How is vaccination against any religion, besides scientology?
When has anyone won by 'standing strong'?

If we are compliant with some restrictions, if we show that we are not a bunch of spoiled children and we can be trusted to be responsible adults, askonim can approach the government with compromises.

If we shrug our shoulders and stuff our ears, refusing to treat this seriously and make the slightest changes to our comfortable lifestyles, then they will treat us like the babies that we are, and the askonim will not be able to do anything for us.

      Delete
    6. What happened in NY yesterday proves your theory wrong. All last week Brooklyn jews were wearing masks in huge numbers, and the Askanim reported that the mayor was happy. There was a conference call with the Governor and the Jewish leaders, and then his executive order contradicted everything they discussed.

DeBlasio is threatening the protests in Boro Park but participated in BLM riots and praised the protests.

So which way is better? Take your head out of the sand and see the truth.

    1. I do not think it was mismanaged. He estimated based on prior years. However, hundreds more families are moving to the area each year. That's thousands more kids. Also, there was no are limit this year so high school kids could have also taken. Dr. Roberts is a huge tzaddik! He looks out to make Yom Tov sweeter for many families. He's human and not a prophet to know how many people will show up. An estimate is reasonable.

    2. He may be a tzadik but that has nothing to do with my point.
We got on line at 11:50 AM - that's only 20 minutes after it started - we waited in traffic until 1:20 PM and there was nothing left!
Think about that for a minute before you reply.
That means only the first 20 minutes of cars received something for an event that was called for SIX HOURS.

  35. When the Satmar Rebbe zt"l was against forming a Jewish state, his reasoning was that in golus we should not upset the goyim. Doesn't that apply here also where people are encouraging non compliance with government rules and protesting in the streets as well? Where does this arrogance in golus come from? Shame on those who choose to disobey government rules. Especially those rules which are for our own good and can help save lives!! How can you say the science behind mask wearing is questionable when the proof for mask wearing is in our own communities? Many felt they knew better than the experts and didn't wear masks and attended large gatherings. Now our #s are higher than elsewhere, where masks are worn more regularly. I wonder why that happened??

    1. Our numbers are not higher than elsewhere, it's the number of positives in our community, because only people with symptoms are testing. The actual "cases" are not higher than elsewhere in NJ.
Stop believing the propaganda and stop blaming the jews. Look at the numbers carefully.

As for the satmar Rebbe, he marched on Washington. Did that not upset the goyim? The answer is that it depends on the issue.

  36. The difference between Rosh Yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel and those in America.
In Eretz Yisroel R’ Gershon eidelstein said “ “L’maaseh it’s impossible to celebrate Simchas Torah in the same way we always have due to the virus,” the Rosh Yeshivah said. “The medical professionals will issue instructions on how to celebrate Simchas Torah safely so there won’t be infections chas v’chalilah. We must be careful and adhere to these instructions during Simchas Torah. We must rejoice – in the double simcha of Yom Tov and Simchas Torah – in a way that won’t harm public health.”

In america they say no need to follow doctors. No need to social distance.

    2. And how exactly? What bad advice did the local doctors give you?

When will people realize that no doctor ever claimed to know everything about a new virus that no doctor me has seen before. They can't do more than give advice based on best knowledge available. Will some of it end up being wrong? Sure! But that does not make the reshoim. They have continuously altered their opinion and advice for the people who actually called and spoke to them.

Just remember your statement the next time you have strep, cellulitis or the flu and would like their treatment.

Thankfully we have a tremendous growth of "real" medical practitioners known as chiropractors, kinesiologists and health food store workers who will be able to help you.

These positives are going to shut us down indefinitely! Enough already! Don't give Coles fodder to feed the media about us! No tests = no positives. Feel free to check for pneumonia or strep or even an anti-body test, but if you are offered the Covid test, say NO!

    1. It is important for someone with symptoms to test this way they know if they or their family has to quarantine.
Come to some shuls in Lakewood and you’ll hear the coughing going on the colds etc. they aren’t testing and can be spreading the virus.

    2. They should stay home regardless of the cause, and as we saw from the President, one can test negative on the morning yet be positive in the evening. Testing os not a sure-fire solution. When in doubt, stay home. At this point you won't have definitive results before Y'T anyway since the rapid test is only 50% accurate.
