In the press release Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles and Steve Reinman, the Township’s Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development, were in attendance at the event. “The BlueClaws have been a tremendous asset to our community, bringing over 7.7 million fans to Lakewood since 2001,” said Coles. “The Township could not be more excited continue our partnership with the BlueClaws and we look forward to this exciting new era in team history.”
“The BlueClaws and Township of Lakewood have been fantastic partners over the last two decades and we look forward to continuing that relationship many years into the future,” said Art Matin, managing partner of Shore Town Baseball, which operates the day-to-day management of the team.
Makes sense. Sort of like how Lakewood Hatzolah became Hatzolah of Central Jersey.
ReplyDeleteNo. Hatzola changed name to include neighboring towns not because the name Lakewood is a problem
DeleteSame here - they're renaming to include the neighborhood, particularly since Jersey has good brand recognition to potential fans.
DeleteHow much money did those 7.7 million fans spend in Lakewood?
ReplyDeleteHow much tax revenue did we make?
How much of the profits that were made were spent in Lakewood?
How have we gained with a stadium in our town?
Township paid 24 million dollars for the stadium
ReplyDeleteChutzpa
ReplyDeletethis is biting the hand that feeds you. Lakewood taxpayers spent 24 million and hosted the team for free. They paid almost nothing to lease it and the thank you by dissasociating with lakewood.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ray Coles goes along with it.
And he will be re elected, and we will continue shelling out money to support the tax abated properties of millionaires (and roshei beis din)!!
DeleteDid the executive director of economic development drive to the event with the car that lakewood tax payers sponsor as a monthly allowance of $500.
ReplyDeleteThe stadium was the esnan zona for Cedarbridge corp, betrayal is the worlds oldest profession.
ReplyDelete179k per year wouldn't even cover the tax bill of a property of that size
ReplyDeleteThis stadium, with our name on it or without, is just another scam, nothing to do with us, the taxpayers of town. I don't care that they removed Lakewood's name from the stadium. I think they should remove the stadium from the town and build a nice park on the area

ReplyDelete"Lakewood taxpayers paid for this scam stadium deal. And now they don't want our name on it. We paid 24 million dollars for the stadium. Thy got all proceeds. Paid us 25 grand a year in rent. We the Lakewood taxpayers paid all maintenance costs, which was in the millions for 15 years. It brought no business to the town. Was very profitable. Put money in the politicians pockets. Lakewood had all our money that we could have used to fix our messed up town stolen by these politicians and their buddies. And now they dont even want to be associated with us. I think it's time for a lawsuit. We want our money back.
goof it not good for the town of lakewood connected to R ahron Kotler's name to be conneted to a pro lgbt baseball team
ReplyDeleteRav Aharon Kotler, warned that the greatest threat facing Jewry is (not assimilation, but rather) perversion of the Torah,
Delete(Mishnas Reb Aharon 1:2,3:6).
