The Jews had been guilty of the three cardinal sins: idolatry, forbidden relationships and murde, but the primary sin of which they were guilty was that of corruption and injustice: “They have sold for silver those whose cause was just, and the needy for a pair of sandals…you who trample the heads of the poor into the dust of the ground” (2:6-7).

- Yeahthatskosher reflects on the sad closing of a local Restaurant:
1) The current economic climate likely cannot support every high-end restaurant that opens, be it in Lakewood or anywhere. Lakewood alone has seen a lot of restaurants opening and closing of late, and it’s practically impossible for them to all be viable. South Florida is going through similar things as well. Additionally, restaurants have always been a difficult business to succeed in. That hasn’t changed.

2) Lakewood is a tight-knit community and Seared came in (presumably) without close local ties (according to locals) or an established brand name; compared to another new upscale place like The Loft that has brand name recognition, for example.

3) The “receipt” situation  likely played a role in the negative perceptions of the restaurant, but it is rare for a single bad PR situation to cause a company to fold

4) Businesses need to pay closer attention to public sentiment and take a more hands-on approach to what content they are putting online. The overall community spends plenty of time on WhatsApp (status) or Facebook, and Instagram to ignore these platforms and be able to tell their own story versus having a story told about them (that they can’t control). I don’t expect most restauranteurs to also be marketing or PR experts, but they should hire people or companies to help them with these efforts early on, before they have a problem.

I am not qualified to go further in this discussion. A Talmid Chochem, who is a well known author of Torah seforim, told this to me. I am not a Talmid Chochum. I might have even reported this to you slightly incorrectly.
The other point that I would make is that all knowledge is in the Torah but that doesn't mean that anyone alive has all of that knowledge.
Here is what he told me:
"Rav Chasdai Crescas of Spain (1340-1411) writes that nothing in the Torah negates the possibility of believing in extraterrestrial life. "

Rabb Aryeh Kaplan argues that the basic premise of the existence of extraterrestrial life is strongly supported by the Zohar, Judaism chief mystical work. He writes, “The Midrash teaches us that there are seven earths. Although the Ibn Ezra tries to argue that these refer to the seven continents, the Zohar clearly states that the seven are separated by a firmament and are inhabited. Although they are not inhabited by man, they are the domain of intelligent creatures.”Please don't bother asking me more about this since it is beyond my level of expertise.,Dr Roberts concluded.

Sunday December 15 News Updates Lakewood

Weather: 42° A mix of clouds and sun

-The Satmar rebbe paid a visit tonight to the new magnificent shul at Royal Grove in Jackson (feder status)

- Dr Rich Roberts of Lakewood, NJ posts thread on Twitter about the Drones over New Jersey:
First, I believe Admiral Kirby when he says that over 90% of the reports are of legal, normal aircraft. Many of the "drone" photos look like cargo jets, or other typical aircraft, with swept wings and a fuselage. Most people don't study the sky at night so they're reporting things that are typically there.
The conclusions that best fit the data are as follows:
1. Most reports are of normal aircraft.
2. Some reports are AI generated photos.
3. This is not the military since the military is not allowed to test over civilian areas, these things are not trying to not be noticed, and the military would not risk the political fallout if one fell on someone.
4. The only scenario, that I can see to fit the facts here, is that a small number of these sightings are alien UFOs who are testing for our societal reaction to, or preparing us for, revealing themselves soon. That's why the US government can't say what they are but knows that they don't present a danger. It makes sense to reveal themselves now since Congress is hot-on-the-case to reveal our military knowledge of them, military and intellegence whistleblowers are increasing in number, and Trump will be in charge soon and he promises to reveal these secrets. I don't know if I'm correct but I can't think of another scenario to fit these facts.

Fairlawn, NJ  Barbershop update:
On Thursday, the Fairlawn police department came out with a statement stating, “after investigating and speaking with all parties involved, it was determined that this was a misunderstanding.”
The boys mother responded with a post on Facebook:
I’m really stepping out of my comfort zone here, but I do not agree with the statement that the Fairlawn Police Department publicized regarding my son’s incident at the barbershop. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what happened to me and my son was deliberately antisemitic and was definitely NOT a misunderstanding. I agreed to go to the meeting to hear what the barbers had to say. I left with no doubt, fully aware that what happened to us was entirely intentional.
I am beyond grateful for all the support that Jews and Non-Jews in our community and around the world have shown us. We should all be very proud of the TREMENDOUS STRENGTH that we hold. There is no question, WE ARE STRONGER THAN EVER WHEN UNITED!
Please keep your eyes open and don’t be afraid to speak up! We have to keep fighting every bit of antisemitism together.
Everything that happens is from G-D and it is all for the best! My family will only come out of it stronger, but now we need time to heal.
Please keep in mind: ״המרחם על אכזרים סופו להתאכזר על רחמנים.״. “He who showed mercy to the cruel ended up being cruel to the merciful”. NEVER STAY SILENT. When you see something say something!
G-D willing may we all experience only good things moving forward.

Is קטנתי Read with אזלא גרש or A רביעי

The word קטנתי in this week's parsha vayishlach is commonly read with the trup of a אזלא גרש you can hear the crowd humming it along with the baal koreh. There is however several opinions among the baalei dikduk as to the  correct trup. The Koren chumash and others has a רביעי which recent baalei koreh have been reading it with. The new Torah Temimah chumash has both  אזלא-גרש & רביעי as  the trop for קטנתי. The Breuer Tanach which is used for dikduk has it with a אזלא-גרש based on older dikduk versions of chumashim.

There is a vort that when Yaakov Avinu said katonti he was looking to make himself humble therefore the proper reading is with a revii since the Azla Geresh goes up and amplifies it instead of humbleness. The question is asked why would it have a Azla geresh then, if it is gaavah?
Some respond with the famous vort of the Vilna Gaon the Gemara says that a person is allowed to have "Shiminis ShebeShiminis of Gaavah" - 1/8 of an 1/8 (1/64) of arrogance. What is the meaning of this unusual terminology - "an eighth of an eighth"?

The Vilna Gaon explains, the Gemorah means the 8th pasuk in the 8th parsha. Parshas VaYishlach is the 8th parsha and "Katonti Mikal HaChasadim" is the 8th pasuk. A person's level of haughtiness must be on the level that he is unworthy of anything. - "I have been diminished by all the kindness and all the truth you have done for me." Whatever Hashem does and will do for me is not coming to me. It is a gift from Hashem, "Katonti" - I am unworthy!

She went to the owner to demand he tell the barber to stop. The owner spoke to the barber in Arabic and seconds later the barber cut off the peyos on the other side of his head. Cutting off the peyos of Jews was literally something the N@zis did.more
