-  Retraction letter about support for חומש פשוטו של מקרא from England rabbonim.

  1. 1. That's not a chazara from his letter, it is just one detail.
    2. That is not his letter. A private email in English was translated and placed on his stationery as though he wished it publicized. That is a forgery.
    3. Reb Avraham Gurwitz has not changed his mind

    Please adjust appropriately.

  3. who knows if theres any form of authenticity?

  4. Correct This is a total forgery and it deals with one specific point and states that it is not for the public

  5. Wrong, it is a retraction from his previous letter, the only positive thing that he's writing that he gained from the sefer, but he disagrees with a specific pshat, and goes on to say in general the approach was wrong and it takes away the entire ruchnius of learning chumash,
Additionally he does not want his previous letter posted anywhere, which means it's a complete retraction.
I must say it is surprising that he knew of the criticism and he wrote a positive letter and only later realized that maybe there was something to what the rabbonim were saying. But at least he's willing to say what he feels is the truth.

    1. If you read the original letter, it is obvious that he is under huge pressure by the bottom-feeders, and he does not wish to be involved any more.
      הרשעים כים נגרשו

    2. We are in this world for a purpose. The purpose of bringing moshiach

There are many mouthing platitudes of piousness whose goals are ..very different

הרשעים כים נגרשו applies to those

  6. rav avrohom was not chozer only because he has nothing to be chozer from. he never wrote that it's kosher. i heard from someone who himself spoke to him that it was not מרצונו that they placed his letter under the first one. he said that he has a bigger issue with it then the problem that it is a smear campaign against the avos and שבטי כה etc. his issue is the very פירוש, and he holds that even if someone were to come forth with a kosher one it should never be used for learning chumish. he is worried that even if this one is gotten rid of something else "kosher" will take it's place. all this is clearly stated in what he wrote דו"ק ותשכח

    1. That is a complete lie! He says explicitly that he agrees with everything that the dayan wrote (meaning the letter he really wrote). Moreover, R' Avrohom endorses the Chumash wholeheatedly in his own handwriting! and writes that there is no problem at all with it, since there is ayin panim laTorah. דו"ק ותשכח

    2. Reb Avrohom Gurvitz wrote one letter, in support of פשוטו של מקרא. He has nothing to be chozer from. He wrote that there is nothing wrong with a Peirush that is not like Rashi.

I heard from someone that Anon 11:59 is a Russian bot.
I also heard from someone else that they're giving out free diamonds in Howell.

  7. Amazing how the powerless vaad who projected themselves as powerful melted to smitherines the second someone ignored them.

  8. The very passionate original letter written by the Dayan is precisely what any person who has learned from the chumash knows: that it is excellent in every way. Period. Full stop. The above is obviously a complete forgery by those who can't back down from their completely uncalled for protest over a masterful work that hundreds of thousands of Tamidei Chachomin have benefited from. You can post a million letters smearing this chumash, but the truth remains the truth and it will never change.

  9. This attempt shows how desparate those who have written against this great Chumash are. They couldn't handle that a Gadol WHO ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH THE ENTIRE CHUMASH MANY TIMES endorsed the Chumash and praised its contents in the most glowing terms, not to mention Rav Gurwitz's warm endorsment of it (he only writes that one should learn Rashi first). Any so-called taanos on this stellar chumash could be leveled (and even more so!) against the Ramban, Ibn Ezra, Radak, Rashbam, Malbim, etc. (the meforshim quoted in this chumash). The calumny against this chumash, which until some trouble-makers came along no one ever saw anything wrong with, is one of the most absurd things I've seen in my life -- and I've seen much.

    1. Here you are again. Doubt you are familiar with any that you mentioned, and how they tragically would distance your types

      Delete
    2. I am very familiar with them, which is why I said what I did. You, on the other hand, apparently never went through a Ramban properly, for if you did you would recognize the truth and stop your support of a bunch of goons tarnishing the names of Talmidei Chachamim who, unlike you and your narrow-minded ilk, know how to learn and understand the Rishonim on Chumash the correct way.

      Delete
    3. They actually wouldn't even recognize "your" types. Are you willing also to ban the Ramban because he quotes secular Greek philosphers in his perush al HaTorah (those who learn Ramban are familiar with this)? Are you willing to ban the Abarbanel, who quotes Thomas Aquinas, an Italian priest, in his perush on Nach? If your answer is yes, then you have larger issues; if it is no, then you, and all those that espouse similar views, should keep their mouths shut.

    4. Small than usual tipush.
He held as almost as much as anyone the masses (that's your ilk) isn't entitled to peruse whatever you desire.
And strange if you're even familiar with him at all as your ilk dubs him a non rationalist.Ridiculously false.
But it explains how we need to distance your crowd influence from our youth.

And the Malbim.Seriously.He spent his life (fruitlessly it according to some) fighting your chevra!

      Delete
    5. Your knowedge of the facts is almost as good as your writing. Ignorami like you would put the Malbim in cheirim in no time. But ignorance and sheer amaratzus is bliss, and you know nothing about the whole issue, apparently, conflating a wonderful perush that is a compilation of Rishonim, with haskalah of the 1800's. Maybe learn a little. Calling you foolish is being kind.

    6. Anon 4:51AM is on target
Ad hominems shouldn't be used by supposedly 'enlightened' people as yourselves unless you really lack substance.

Though the generations and guises change , the goals remain identical

Haskala ,that is,-always couched their claims with piety while- evolve(d) their tactics and name dropping for the agenda of the season.
The malbim would have included your crowd in all likelihood amongst his opponents even those who slyly chose to quote him

Might there be some naive well intended bystanders? Indeed.
But is that a good place to be? Collateral damage is often unfortunate but accepted in our religion
We will " refuse to remain impartial between the fire and the fire-"men

    7. "cheirim" Assinine Sheker .Which is how you guys operate. He would have been at the fore to agree. To restate the obvious for the ignorant:It isn't so much what you/he publish,it's the agenda, the climate, and who you wish to mislead when you publish

  10. What a crime it is that because of pure political motivations (vehameivin yavin), people have stopped buying this chumsh, or worse, put in sheimos (and some avaryanim even burned it!!), and the unsuspecting public will forever be deprived of it. They've in effect stolen millions from the publishers of this chumash, as well as from the stores that now cannot sell them. These are strange times indeed

  12. You don’t have to believe it. I know what went on there and as an outsider I was shocked at how the kw complainers handled it. Suffice it to say they didn’t handle it like the poor victims they portrayed themselves as and certainly not the way you would expect of a Yid and surely not bnei Torah.
