 A US-Israeli dual national was killed in a shooting attack near the Beit HaArava Junction on Highway 90 in the Jordan Valley on Monday afternoon. He was identified as Elan Ganeles HYD from West Hartford, Connecticut, who recently graduated from Columbia University. His family will return to Connecticut to sit shiva, according to an announcement by the Young Israel of West Hartford. (Jpost)

- Torah Umesorah proposes a change in the school calendar due to issues with late starts with very little time to properly learn about the Yomim Tovim and preparing for Elul  also  boys’ camps have to end before Rosh Chodesh Elul, which leaves two to three weeks of unstructured time after camp ends and Yeshiva/Bais Yaakov begins. ’23 a proposal for this year to have the schools end 
 June 19 and begin camp on Camp Begins: June 22 to Aug 15 with Rosh Chodesh Elul Aug 17 and schools begin Aug 28/11 Elul Girls 113 Elul Aug 30

- Girls High school acceptance: there's been several anonymous articles printed in some Lakewood media shifting blame and not taking responsibility with no clear direction from any vaad  members about going forward. Parents should reach out to their elementary school principal if they did not hear back yet from any high school.

    I'd it to pay the magid shiur?
    I'm not trying cv"s to put it down I'm just trying to understand what expense is there for a bus ride in addition to to ride itself

    1. If the bus is not full, then the paid fares do not cover the cost of chartering the bus.

    2. The riders pay on par with what it costs to take jersey transit. However with covid and more people working from home the cost of the bus is significantly higher then what it is bringing in.

  7. How many steakhouses does Lakewood need? As someone who moved away from Lakewood many years ago (before even sit down pizza shops!), this is truly disgusting.

    No where else in the Jewish world is there anything like this.

  15. If the town really doesn't need it, then it will close down. That's how economics works. But judging by the number of stores that didn't close down, I assume that this town does need it.
