Israel At War Friday Jan 26

 Israel at war day 112

- Hamas published a new propaganda video showing signs of life from three hostages held in the Gaza Strip. In edited-together clips, the five-minute-long video shows soldiers Daniella Gilboa and Karina Ariev, and civilian Doron Steinbrecher, identifying themselves and asking the Israeli government to return them home.

- Another soldier  killed in Gaza bringing total death in ground operation to 220
Eliran Yeger,36, from Tel Aviv

- International Court of Justice in the Hague rejects Israel’s request to dismiss genocide case brought by S. Africa
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a provisional order that Israel must refrain from acts that could possibly lead to genocide but fell short of demanding that it stop the war.
Still, the mere issuing of a provisional order is viewed as a harsh diplomatic blow for Israel, one that gives South Africa’s genocide claim tacit legitimacy. "

The court says that Israel must “take all measures in its power” to prevent the commission of genocidal acts against the Palestinians as laid out in Article 2 of the Genocide Convention.
The court does not grant South Africa’s demand for an immediate unilateral  ceasefire against Hamas.
Israel must prevent the killing or injuring of Gaza’s Palestinians, must prevent conditions calculated to wholly or partly destroy Gaza’s populace, and must prevent conditions intended to prevent births among Gazans.
The measures are supported by an overwhelming 15-2 majority on the bench, including by its US president Joan Donoghue. Israel’s Aharon Barak is one of the dissenters

- The IDF says it carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon in response to recent attacks on northern Israel.

- Biden told Netanyahu that he will not support a year-long war in Gaza, and asked Netanyahu to speed up the transition to low-intensity fighting against Hamas that would reduce harm to civilians.

-IDF says dozens of Hamas gunmen killed in Khan Younis fighting.  Snipers  took out “many terrorists” in the al-Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis, as troops continued to press battles in Gaza’s second city.

- A editorial in the New York Post newspaper states that "The IDF suffers casualties to protect Gazans, while President Biden pushes for the fantasy of a peace agreement." That is: "Israel sacrifices its soldiers to protect Palestinian citizens, even though Hamas insists that it has  Zero responsibility for the safety of the Gazans," it said.

  1. Elections, Elections, Elections that's all Biden cares about ( himself) and he knows if Israel is still at war he will lose.

  2. Biden has staked his legacy on Israel. No one has supported Israel more strongly. More than Nixon. And Biden was Obama's vice president when the same Netanyahu embarrassed Obama by lecturing him for more than an hour in front of the press corp. Still, he hugged Netanyahu, said he had his back, we stand with Israel, Israel has a duty to kill. NO ONE HAS supported Israel on that scale and he might lose because of it. Yes, maybe it is time for Israel to repay his support and helping him out some way that does not compromise their security.

  3. The reality today is, yes, perhaps the other guy also would have supported Israel. But it is a lot easier for a Republican than a Democrat today because the Democrats have many factions under their umbrella. Remember, besides Nixon, I do not recall a single Republican president that was even half as good to Israel (except the other guy whose name I won't mention). Eisenhower, Reagan, the Bushes (Ford was too short time). All of them limited Israel in one way of another.

    1. The demon-crats welcome those tons of filth under their umbrella. That's an excuse?!
While the GOP you hold culpable for a few weirdos?!

    2. Hard to believe that there are frum people who are under such heavy mind control of certain Democrats that they can't refer to Trump by name. They can only call him "the other guy" or "the former administration" . These same people would have no problem referring to Stalin by name.

  4. Furthermore, it is NOT about himself, but about America. We Democrats picked him because he could beat Trump. Trump is the greatest threat to our republic and institutions in my lifetime. Biden would have been happy to live out his retirement in Delaware but decided to run when the Proud Boys started shouting, "Jews will not replace us," and Trump did not condemn them. Yes, Trump is not Semitic, but he had enabled the anti-Semite. And there can be no forgiveness for the attack on Congress. That was treason of the highest order.

    1. I have to assume you are trolling. You sound too obtuse, even for Lakewood.

    2. I am not trolling. I am not obtuse. My family has been Democrat since the nineteenth century. There is no question that the Republican are going through convulsions. Either they will come out of this intact or another party will replace them. They have gone overboard. And they are going to lose the election. Funny, when the Dems split, so did the nation (1860). When the Republicans split, they just make fools out of themselves. Look how they are helping the Commies by holding up funding for Ukraine. Yes, the border is a mess but traditionally we all united behind fighting the Commies. The Republicans could not even unite behind a speaker. They are in a lot of trouble and it will be a while before they recover. Trolling. Obtuse. We will see who is right.

Thank goodness for federalism because there are not just two parties, but 100. Fifty Dems and fifty Reps. So it is very unlikely that the internal convulsions of the national Republicans can corrupt all fifty of their state parties. You saw how the Republicans in Georgia resisted the treasonous pressures of the federal executive. And even with Trumps appointees, the Supreme Court is NOT going to take his side when the republic is in danger. America will survive but I'm not sure about your party.

  5. Sure Biden is old. The Romans needed old Senators during times of trouble. So what if he old. America is just as strong as the Romans. He is old but represents everything, and better, that America has stood for. Freedom, no tolerance of Anti-Antisemitism, support of Israel, empathy for the unfortunate, and hated of communism like Putin. Even Mitch McConnell understands the threat of the Soviets rebuilding. Yes he support the unions, but the unions America's answer to Marx's stupidity about capitalism, the American way (with truth and justice)Trump does not. Marx was an idiot and it was Democrat and Republican together that discredited. We have to put nation above our own sheetahs.

    2. Could you still draw some distinction between male & female, human & animal? You can still manage?Just a little more of Democrats & you won't be able.Seems farfetched?
Compared to those dominant Marcuse Adorno Weathermen, anybody even the funny forme presidential clown with orange hair is a safety valve relief.

    3. There will always be two parties, never three. If there is one, then we are communists, like Putin and Xi and Sodom Hussain, or the Ayatolla, or that man whose name I won't mention in the 1930s. All a bunch of commies. There is no difference between a Fascist or Commie. They are all the same. So if you don't like parts of the Democratic party, then where would you put them? A third party? Watch and see. The Republicans will absorb them. Someone will. We can't have three parties because we have winner-take-all geographic representation.

Anyway, I hope you don't want America to be a one-party state. Only a communist would want that. Each party serves its purpose. A governing party and opposition. Just like the Tories and Whigs.

    4. I rarely know what you are talking about. Are you a poet or something? Anyway, everyone knows the difference between boys and girls. How stupid can one be if someone can convince him differently. Animals are eaten. We are going to revert to cannibalism because of Democrats? Do you refer to Liddy and the Watergate people when you talk about Weathermen? I rate know what you are talking about and what I do get is nuts. Really now, we won't know the difference between boys and girls. Crazy stuff.

  6. My bad. I means the plumbers. The weathermen were a bunch stupid commie pinkos. Why do you like them? I am concerned that people after destroying the commies, people today want to bring all that stuff back. One party government, no rule of law, cult worship of the leader, attacking the legislative branch, love of Russia. Is that what the people want today? Communism. I can't believe you celebrate commies.

  7. In polling STEM-related workers
76 percent of respondents believed that the United States either lost its global leadership in science and technology or is currently in the process of doing so. Three-fifths of respondents believe China will attain global science and technology dominance within five years

  8. So we better get on the move. All this political chaos the YOUR party is causing is slowing us down. We have to get our act together. We cannot wait until 2028. Fortunately, I think that Trump will lose but the party has been wounded. Let them become the party of blue collared lower middle class. So what? But why, every time the Republicans transform, they cause such tumult? You have to remember, the progressives used to be in your party. Thank goodness for TR but before him, it was chaotic also, albeit not as bad as now.

  9. HERE IS THE CHALLENGE TO ALL REPUBLICANS THAT VOTE FOR TRUMP:

Will America be more Communist, and Russia stronger than now in 2028? And when I say America ch"v be communist, I mean a one-party state, charismatic leader, rule of man, not law. The people are sovereign directly through Congress and NOT by way of the chief magistrate, be it Jackson, TR, FDR, or Trump. This was pashut to G. Washington and Lincoln.

So put you money where your mouth is. For a nickel.

Will Russia be stronger in 2028?

Will the stability and confidence of America (where laws change slowly) remain the worldwide model of capitalism, the adversary of communism, in 2028?

  10. I guess the answer is that the Republican were born out of tumult. So why do Republicans think they are good for business? No one knows what is going to happen whenever they convulse. Like a bunch of mob rule rabble. Using the classical definition, the Democrats are the conservatives.

    1. If"Using the classical[sic] definition" Sergio Massa of Argentina,Justin Trudeau in Canada,Brezhnev of USSR was by comparison considered conservative.
Goodness, we will go with a larger holistic definition
