Updated: Winter storm warnings have been issued for six counties in central and southern New Jersey as the state braces for up to 6 to 8 inches of snow in some areas and potentially dangerous travel conditions across most of the state on Friday. The warnings take effect at 4 a.m. Friday and run until 10 p.m. Friday in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Monmouth, Ocean and Salem, the National Weather Service said. Most other counties in the Garden State remain under winter weather advisories, because lighter snow is anticipated.
Updated: The National Weather Service forecast for a winter storm Thursday night into Friday calls for 4 to 6 inches of snow for the majority of New Jersey with lesser amounts along the Jersey Shore and in northern counties.
The snow will begin to fall 4 am Friday morning through late Friday. Expect dangerous slippery roads.
Why all the negativity? Warning! Dangerous! Snow is a wonderful thing The roads are not dangerous they're just not as quick as you would like them to be on the regular day. Why all the gloom and doom
ReplyDeleteBecause the roads ARE dangerous for those who aren't careful and people should beware!

The roads in Lakewood are dangerous because half the people don't know how to drive so in the snow it's just that much worse....
ReplyDeleteI pay for tuition and I expect schooling every single day. My boss doesn't tell me to stay home when it snows. Chutzpah
ReplyDeleteSafety comes first. Want to drive a bus full of children in 6 inches of snow in the winding streets of Lakewood? If you mind, move to Brooklyn or Minneapolis or the North Pole.
DeleteAgreed. Safety first. So cancel all schools. How are we supposed to maybe, not sure, etc. pick up our kids amongst thousands of others in messy conditions.
DeleteWhich schools canceled?
ReplyDeleteNachlas
ReplyDeleteI understand why babysitters with kids need to cancel if the schools are closed. But why are babysitters with no school age children canceling. Just because they could? It's a why work if others can get the day off attitude. Parents are paying by the month. They work full time and hire babysitters so they can work. Not yashrus to cancel if there is no valid excuse. Babysitters that work from home with no school age children should not be closed on snow days.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you venting here? When you signed up for your babysitter in the beginning of the year, you knew her policy. If you didn’t like it, you could’ve sent your child to a (more expensive) different day care option. Just like you have a certain number of paid days off from work a year, your babysitter is entitled to hers. She gets no benefits, raises or perks. Be appreciative to the person who takes care of your most prized possession and find alternate options (high school girls off?) for that day. If it really bothers you, quit your job and become a babysitter yourself. Maybe then you’ll appreciate her.
DeleteNo raises?
DeleteAt least you agree with the rest.
DeleteAt times the comments sound like a bunch of angry self righteous people from sdom. Take a chill pill, enjoy life and let others enjoy it too! If we are zoche to some Bitachon, then we enjoy the relief of releasing control to the best Manager possible השי"ת!
ReplyDeletea. Other places have that type of lifestyle. You yet chose to stay here. So bear it
Deleteb. We tried that.HE wants us to carry the burden. In the short term it is a kretch,in the long term it will be so beneficial.
Ridiculous to have school and expect parents to pick up kids on dangerous roadways what's the point to be so macho
ReplyDeleteWhen a regular Friday there's barely an hour of school
Who do they have to prove themselves too??
Each parent can make their own decisions. I can’t imagine there will be consequences for kids not showing up today. As for the working parents, the consider school as babysitters so they’re upset.
DeleteA typical snowstorm is not a driving sakana on streets where you can't go more than 10MPH in regular conditions. (Ice storm would be different). But it will be a mess and a major shlep if we all have to pick up our kids in a few hours. IMHO, that is absolutely NOT a reason to keep your kids home. It is precisely in these situations where our kids will see what kind of chashivus we attribute to their learning. Later today, when you're sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the way home from picking them up, instead of kvetching about the 'dumb decision' that the schools made, make sure to tell your kids how happy you are to do this so that they were able to chazer a few pesukim with their Rabbi or learn a few more lines of gemara.
DeleteShow your children real chashivus. Stay home and learn with your kids at home.
