  1. Glad that more seminaries are opening up in Lakewood., The rabonim and schools should all push for the girls to stay here. It is for most prople a waste of money and resources for the girls to be in eretz yisroel for a year away from the parents without knowing what they are doing for shabbos and yom tov. Most girls should stay here., Ask your Rav what is better for the girls... I am happy that my girls HS is starting tro push the girls to stay local., Yes they do go on a 2-3 wekk trip during the year to visit eretz yisroel so they do get the flavor.
Do yourself a favor and keep your girls local. Think about it seminbary is $30,000 then they of course need to marry a 'long term ' learner,. a chasuna., so before most families even get to support they are already in the hole from chasuna and seminary.,.,

    1. The local seminary is not cheaper enough to warrant staying home. If they aren't going to work, they might as well go to Israel.

    2. If they don't dorm. It is very, very cheap.

  2. Why does Gov Murphy's Palestinian sympathy comment merit mention on a frum site? I guess we should be aware we are in Golus. To mention the suffering of the Palestinians, as though it has happened in a vacuum to innocent people, without mentioning the hostages snatched by the Hamas barbarians - babies, the elderly, men and women - is an absolute travesty.

    1. It's important to know who that this is who the vaad supported
And they will probably endorse his wife for senate in November

    2. So why did you vote for him?

    3. I have no issue with his statement. He is governor to all New Jersey, not just jews.

  4. Many people would disagree with your assertion that the law stating that if school boards provide courtesy busing , then low income students are free , would apply to the LSTA. . It most likely doesn’t apply.

    1. The LSTA is not exempt from any regulatory authority
They are under the BOE and subject to the same rules for all private kids

  5. According to the LSTA it costs $600-$900 to bus one kid.
They are running on a deficit the Lakewood Township bails them out every year.
Right now I have some mandated kids who are not getting busing and another kid who gets busing but his stop is very far from my house that it's easier to drive him to school and pick him up then sit in the car waiting and waiting with some crabby babies at the stop.
For the people who live to close to school, It is my tax $$ that is helping bring your kids to school, if the $340 is to much for you to pay, then do what I do drive your kids to school...and I drive over 4 miles not less then 2.

    1. it is my tax dollars that pays for your kids busing. stop trying to sound superior.
the entire point of the lsta was to save courtesy busing. if it costs almost as much as it would cost to hire private busing, than there is no point and it should close shop.

  6. The township has no money to bail out and if they do it is with your tax money
but BH that you can afford to drive your kids not everyone could and paying $340 for 5-6 children is a lot of money,
btw would lsta show everyone the high salaries that they are taking

  7. I just sat and cried after reading about the LSTA price increase. I'm left with a choice between paying the price and further eating away at the tiny bit of disposable income that I still have left, or driving 2 shifts to and from school every day (2 different drop off and pick up times), further eating into the tiny bit of time I have for my personal and household needs before work. It's really not simple.

    1. If you don't get mandated busing, it shouldn't be that far from you.

    2. It's slightly less than two miles, down one of the most traffic filled corridors in town. It can take 15 minutes each way, x4 makes an hour a day (plus waiting on line for my kids).

  8. Excuse me? Your tax dollars are bussing my kid to school? My tax dollars are paying for your “mandated” bus that you don’t even use!

  9. LSTA is a bunch of crooks and was created because some “askan” needed a job.

  10. Interesting that only Jewish non mandated students are charged this money. The public school non mandated students are not charged by the LSTA. If they need to cover the budget everyone should be included!
