Accident Report for June

Since January over 100 pedestrians were struck R"L on Lakewoods roads. Resulting from 2647 crashes.  Faanews reports that's an average of 3.7 per week.
The numbers keep going up R"L of injured pedestrians. During the month of June there were 489 car crashes resulting with 52 injuries and 52 pedestrians struck. In May there were 453 crashes with 44 injuries and 19 pedestrians struck.

Faanews reports Despite Lakewood Township officials claiming that the police department is deployed in full force securing our roads and enforcing traffic regulations, the number of motor vehicle crashes again continues to soar, with more crashes in June than in May.

At a recent Township Committee meeting a  resident pointed out "Lakewood has 3 pedestrians hit per week. That is not ok." He asked why traffic safety isn't taken into consideration as more and more construction is approved. Mayor Coles agreed that 3 pedestrians struck per week is not ok, however, he did not give any response.

  1. I believe that the police should start enforcing pedestrian safety rules as well.

  2. Overcrowding, over development especially lack of planning are all the fault and responsibility of our great political leadership for the last 20 years

    1. The major cause of accidents is the lack our courteous driving.

  4. No one is perfect but when there's less cars on the road and less pedestrians you have less accidents even with a lack of courteous drivers.
Once the infrastructure can't handel it than every problem gets magnified

    1. We can't fix that, but we can start driving more considerably.
