  3. Hashem, Dave is from non-science based decisions. Hashem, save us from non-Torah ideas of ‘a balance between human lives and something else’. Hashem, save us from repeating the mistakes we made in the month of Adar.

Hashem please save us from people who think that our lives are all in danger until politicians decide we are safe. Hashem please help us from people who think the lockdown has any science behind it. 2. It doesn't make sense to you that if we all stay indoors then the virus will spread less?

  4. To those meshugoyim who want to open shuls as normal: you don't seem to realize that hatzalos nefashos is more chamar than minyan. The answer is that you don't really care about what hashem wants, you just want to argue with those in power. If the ships stayed open you would all be cursing out the askanim for leaving them opened.

    1. Your remark is projectionism at its best because that's how you see it.
Did you shop in stores with social distancing? did you go out on the street with social distancing? is it so hard for you to see other people have a will to serve Hashem how they see fit. yes a minyan is very possible with social distancing and is allowed by the law just as churches are please tell us why its the minyan thing that irks you so much.

did you have the same reaction to all those politicians calling for an end of the restrictions.

      Well said, well said!!!

Amazing how some people feel they have the right to attack fellow Yidden just because of their unfinished psychological issues. They go as far as being mafkir their dam with their mesira. Nebach!

    3. While there is certainly an increased risk of exposure every time you go to a store, most people I know are trying to limit this exposure to when absolutely necessary. A responsible family will probably not have more than an hour of shopping exposure per week to one or two members of the household. Shuls on the other hand, would represent at least 90 minutes of exposure per day per male household member. Additionally, people go in and out of stores. They do not handle the washing cups, doorknobs, tables, chairs or use the restrooms - all areas where there is an increased risk of virus spread.

I don't want to get into the actual question of if shuls should or should not be opened but the comparison to food stores is totally flawed and at best represents a real lack of understanding of how infectious diseases spread.

To be machmir on tefilla b'tzibur while being a meikel on pikuach nefashos is silly.

    4. why is it that people who want to daven in a shul can not be trusted to keep social distancing regulations shuls are keeping the same rules as anywhere else like essential businesses that are open. Of course safeguards are put in place, no they wont share the washing cup. But the same resistance was used against porch minyanim that have absolutely none of these risks

    5. I'm not sure that its a question of trust. It is very difficult to maintain a constant awareness of what and where you touch for extended periods of time. Essential businesses have limited employees, provide training and PPE for essential employees and are financially motivated to protect their employees. As far as customers, they are in and out. Shuls are very different as I explained above.
I fully understand the legitimate desire that people have to open the shuls but I wonder if those in favor of opening the shuls can understand that many who oppose that stance are motivated by a sincere concern for communal welfare and not by a desire to control others or worse.

  9. 99% of those who were tested positive in the frum non-facility were not fatal regardless of age, or prior history, so going to shul is less than 1% and al pi torah even thse who are choshehsh it's botel b'shishim

    1. Batel B'shishim? If you went to Yeshiva, you were appearently weren't all that concerned about participating then f you think Batel B'shishim applies.

Not going to comment overall on whether shuls should open, beyond my pay grade. But each shul is different. some can add additional minyanim, and maintain social distancing, other can't

    2. Less than 2% is so unlikely that it's considered botel for example Dole lettuce has a hechsher though it's not checked and Heckers flour has a hechsher unchecked because less than 2% chance of bugs even though many ppl have found bugs it doesn't mean it's ossur and in fact 99% of food you eat relies on this so why is minyan different????

    3. Human life is not batel b'shishim.
What's truly shocking is that our community which has lost such a disproportionate number of people (and seemingly so many talmidei chachamim_ have done no cheshbon hanefesh and insteda are blaming the doctors and askanim etc...) TAKE ACHRAYUS YIDDEN!!!!!

Are we really so krum in our thinking!!!!!

    1. I think that's a fair proposal. Or open it every day for a limited number of people and have a rotation so everyone can daven btzibur once a week until things improve. Ensure proper sanitizing every day. Carefully track who is part of which group so that when someone tests positive you don't have to close the whole shul, it would be just that group that has to isolate. But honestly, I cant imagine a system like that ever working.

    1. Stop throwing around geamrahs that have no shaycus at all, Mr Am Ha'aretz. Its boidem mit klotz. The point is that this is not a religios debate. Peoplw are saying that shutting down life for everyone was a mistake from the get-go. You can't stop the world because you might save a life. And there is zero science to back the extreme shutdown. And there is zero evidence that it actually did anything. You show me one place that it had an effect.

  13. Unfortunately what we are being told by official channels is the complete lie. Turkey used hydroxycloroquine early in the disease and 92% didn’t even need hospitalizations. If you want to really understand what is going on you have to follow the money and see who is benefiting and gaining monetarily and egotistically. A huge reason for so many deaths in NY can be put to blame on Gov Como and his order that there is no liability for hospitals n medical workers now and the fact there are no patient advocates allowed in now.
Medicaid pays for death by heart attack say $5000 for Covid 19 $13,000 and if they die on a vent $39,000. So there is a huge reason to put people on vents. Normally before Covid 19 vents would have 40% mortality rate. Now with Covid 19 mortality is 80% or more. Numerous stories have been told of people dyeing in the hospitals because of neglect. The chevra Kaddisha found a note (I saw a picture of the note) in the pockets of a man that was written in Yiddish saying he’s dyeing but not from Covid 19 but from starvation. Another case Hatzolah dropped off someone in the hospital and 3 days later chevra kaddisha picked him up in the same exact place without him being touched or looked at. A young lady went into ER, she thought she was having problems breathing. A nurse told her your too young and beautiful to die. Their going to stick you on a vent and basically most die then. She left and went home and it turned out it was a panic attack.
There is a expose today that was done by project Veritas that spoke to funeral parlors in NY and they said they are putting down everyone as dyeing of Covid 19 so they can get more money. There was someone that wanted an autopsy done on their relative as reason for death had been listed as Covid 19 and the relative felt it was from Alzheimer’s which actually turned out to be the reason. The cdc is touting right now a medicine that they were working on for Ebola which cost a thousand dollars versus hydroxycloroquine which is only $20. The medicine they are referring does not have any of the time tested safety records of hydroxycloroquine which is from over 40 years ago. It also doesn’t sound like it’s as effective as hydroxycloroquine which has at least 92% effective rate wherever it has been used.
A doctor that worked in Maimonides ICU said they’re treating people the wrong way. He said the people do not have pneumonia’s but more like just a lack of oxygen like dropping people out of plane at 30,000 and when they put on the vent it blows apart the peopleS lungs. So basically they’re killing the people by putting them on vents.
Dr. Fauci and others at the CDC have gotten this all wrong from the get go. Unless you consider they’re driven by an agenda. Numbers way out of proportion, vents mostly not needed etc.
There are many scientists that are voicing out that we should open up almost totally. There are even some that hold most people have been exposed and we already have herd immunity. When we go to stores and by water or whatever, the virus is probably attached to whatever we bring back to our homes. It attaches to our shoes and pants etc.
Now to get back to whether we should be allowed to have minyanim I think with social distancing we are doing more than our fair share. If we start be choshesh for the miyut of pekuach nefashos then no one should go in a car or bus or anything anymore as it could be dangerous also the food ur getting delivered probably has Covid 19 on it and maybe some other bacteria.
The bottom line is we need to remember who really controls the world?! And that is Hashem!! The more we accept His rule over us and that He is our Healer the more He will become our healer. Covid19 is really all about Kavvod of 2019 where we think we have all the answers and potenten how to handle everything in life. The real problem is the the Kavvod of the doctors and false healers of world civilization. Let’s get back to Hashem and internalize He is Ein Od Milvado.

  16. People are fed up already. Kids (along with their parents) are going crazy cooped up in the house. Teachers are desperately trying to get some semblance of class taught. Yeshivos are closed, "learning" over the phone is not learning the way it's supposed to be. Tefilla is not what it should be with shuls closed. Businesses are suffering, some will have to close. Jobs are being lost. Teenagers are being medicated to prevent them from breakdowns.
Who is taking achrayus for all the suffering that the quarantine is causing?
    We need to reopen already.
Anyone over 50, or at risk should continue to stay indoors, but why can't the younger population get back to their life? Is there still a risk for some people people? Yes, a very small percentage of the population. Nobody is minimizing a single death. But to keep an entire population indoors to prevent a few deaths is not right. It is going to cause more deaths, someone who loses his parnassa is at risk for a lot more than corona virus. Children not in school for months will suffer later and many of them could drop out of the system because of this. People suffering from depression, anxiety etc...
We don't ban cigarettes and alcohol for the health hazards they cause.
We don't ban take out food, because of the health hazards of people who eat too much?
Did we make people stay home during the intifada years so that no one would C"V get killed in a terrorist attack?
How many US soldiers died in WW2 so that we would have a better society.
Politicians need to pull themselves together and do what is right, and not worry about their election
