Matzav.com -It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Menachem Mendel Rabinowitz zt”l. Rav Rabinowitz was a longtime pillar of the Lakewood, NJ community. He was the founder and dean of Yeshiva Ketana of Lakewood, one of the town’s first boys elementary schools. He subsequently founded and led Mesivta Keren Hatorah, one of the premier mesivtos in Lakewood.
Rav Rabinowitz was a son of Rav Yisroel and Rebbetzin Masha Rabinowitz, growing up in the Bronx, where his father served as a rov. Rav Rabinowitz was later a talmid of Rav Shneur Kotler zt”l at Bais Medrash Govoah.
He was a member of Lakewood’s Igud Hamosdos and other communal bodies, always desiring to help the klal. Rav Rabinowitz was the consummate oseik b’tzorchei tzibbur and community leader.
With tremendous devotion, he led his mosdos hachinuch, using a unique combination of genuine caring and impressive heights in his own personal avodah. He possessed a unique ability to evaluate the needs of talmidim and his mosdos in general, stopping at nothing to ensure the highest level of pure chinuch b’derech Yisroel saba.
Rav Rabinowitz was also a boki b’halacha, renowned as the most prominent expert in daled minim, as thousands, in Lakewood and beyond, utilized his knowledge and expertise each and every year before Sukkos. Many prominent talmidei chachomim would not buy or use daled minim until they received Rav Rabinowitz’s much sought-after approval. read more at Matzav.com
He cared for yechidim, children almonos and yesomim. He didn’t look for kovod he had a huge heart. He was a unique person a real person hos loss is a tremendous patch and has really changed the face of Yidishkeit
