Sunday April 19 News updates Lakewood

Refresh page for updates

- Passaic Rabbonim "We are restating in unequivocal terms that the ban against all minyanim remains in place in the Passaic-Clifton community, without any exception whatsoever. Any easing of this prohibition would be, at the very minimum, a safek pikuach nefesh, endangering the participants and dramatically increasing the likelihood of illness and loss of life in our community"
-Community was  proactive in implementing aggressive social distancing measures well before State and Federal regulations mandated these measures and well before they were adopted across the greater regional Jewish community. As painful and devastating as our losses have been, these measures  appear to have played a critical role in preventing, ח׳׳ו ,far more serious illnesses and deaths due to COVID-19.

  1. Isn’t it interesting that the Lakewood Vaad controlled website posts a letter from a Rav in woodmere that is going against local Rabbanim? And basically hints against all minyanim not specifying porch minyanim but the underlying message is there

    1. But at the same time promoting an "approved" wedding venue. Just follow the $$.

    2. $5k for a wedding with only immediate family, what does that come out to $500 per plate? Insanity.

    3. The Aiva it has generated in the secular press does not seem to be of concern to the Aiva people that forced the rabbonim to stop porch minyanim

  2. It’s also very interesting that the rabbinic ”leaders” in Lakewood have pretty much remained silent throughout the crisis. All we hear is from a local CEO and random askanim ea giving conflicting and confusing guidance.

  3. A letter by physicians should be signed only by physicians not askanim that are heads of organizations that are irrelevant to the context of the letter it cheapens the letter and insults the bnei hakehila

    1. Welcome to the frum world pr machines, were ppl who do chesed think they are dr’s and are the voice of our kehila. Most of them are paid salaried workers fundraising from us , and yes they have their own personal set of rules.
And just because you make a career out of chesed doesn’t make you anything more then a community worker.

  4. 1 Mulberry lane peach tree at side of house & apple tree beginning to blossom in front of house. Please hob in zin (don't know how to say in English) Leihonois bohem bnei odom, that people should get the fruit, not squirrels & birds. Thanks.

  6. listen to the podcast on ywn a Lakewood doctor undermines the rabbonim and poskim and calls porch minyanim dangerous and a slippery slope and he says there is still aiva he mocks those who daven in a minyan as an addiction

    1. Don't listen to that garbage i shut it off in middle it is a dumb interview. The Dr never spoke to the poskim but tries to explain it according to his understanding. He questions the decision of the rabbonim and insults those who daven in a minyan as addicted to minyan. The moderator adds his 2 cents and calls it misguided. This is a laughing stock garbage and trash.

  7. Loshon horah is why we are in this mess. Everything we complained about was taken away from us, fellow Yidden, please, even if l'shem Shomayim, negative talk is banned, permanently. (Even if you're right, or even if you're very clever-so is your yetzer horah)

  8. If there is a risk of reinfection because of multiple strains and that is a reason not to go out even if you had the virus how can they say at the same time that those who had corona should donate their plasma to others. is there no risk in passing the infection to that person? these two points are contradictory and makes no sense. if its good enough to donate than you should be allowed to go outside with out the worry of reinfecting.

  10. Bottom line the Doctors have no clue .
The Askonim have no clue .
    Have some humility.
    Explain your guessing to people.
    Askonim are driving around .
Regular people are cooped up ,
    unemployed and suffering.
    Suicides are happening.
    Is that ok ??

    1. Your 100% right. Unfortunately the Rabbonim and the yungeleit don't have a clue either. I wish there was a nicer way of saying it but if you'll go back and look at the quoted statements you can marvel at what was said. It's a big part of the klap of this tekufah. Bottom line is that we're machmir on sofeik nefashos.

  11. What is alarming is that the doctors and hospitals are getting away with murder...and no one calls them out on it. Porch minyanim supposedly are killing. Did you know that mortality of ventilation is a way higher risk than the suppoosedly controversial hydrochloriquine?!?! There are eye witness accounts of hospitals starving and not hydrating patients...and probably the high death rate is directly related to that and not the virus. Any doctor not pushing for care at home is more of an issue than any porch minyan ever would be. Any askan who still supports the notion of waiting out covid until chest pains set in and then letting hospitals kill them off is more of a murderer than any person in a porch minyan. The amount of sheker allowed to flourish and unaccountability of doctors and hospitals is horrifying. Even with underlying heart conditions, the risk of zelenko treatment on the heart is less than five percent. The risk on the heart from an electrolyte imbalance due to non-hydration is way higher. The risk of mortality on venting, even when there is no covid is also way higher.

  12. Anyone know where our elected officials are? I have not heard a peep from them...…
While people (Not Rabonim or Doctors) who were never elected are busy opining on what we should or shouldn't be doing....

    1. Its better they keep quiet, they were no where when there were warnings about the virus coming to Lakewood. FAA got up at the meeting before purim and asked the township committee who also act as the board of health what they are doing about coronavirus which is here and coming to Lakewood. They said the county and state are inc harge so at this point they should just keep quiet.

    2. The "elected" officials aren't really representatives of the people. 5k votes in a town of 120k

  13. Let them appoint a committee (Preferable of doctors and other knowledgeable individuals) to coordinate with the state and county officials instead of the wild west.
