Weekend Storm Update

The threat for a major snowstorm for New Jersey this weekend continues to increase, with a 60% to 90% chance of at least 6 inches of snow across the state, according to the National Weather Service while models show 12 or more inches of snow coming for the weekend for most according top several meteorologists  “Confidence continues to ramp up that the area will be affected by a significant storm system beginning Saturday night and potentially continuing all the way into the day Monday,” the weather service said early Wednesday.

- NJ1015 meteorologists says  Confidence is increasing that a significant snowstorm could impact New Jersey this weekend, centered on Sunday. While it’s too early to predict exact totals or timing, there’s a real chance some areas could see over a foot of snow. Uncertainty remains about when the heaviest snow falls and how long the storm lasts.

-News 12 NJ : New Jersey should prepare for a moderate-impact snowstorm on Sunday, with at least 4 inches expected and travel disruptions likely. Two storm tracks remain possible: a less-likely southern track bringing all snow and heavier totals in South Jersey, or a more-likely northern track that would bring very heavy snow to North Jersey but a mix of sleet/rain reducing totals in central and southern areas. Timing is still uncertain but could last into Sunday night, and intense snow banding may produce very high snowfall rates in parts of the state.

“It is now probable at least several inches of snowfall will occur across a large portion of the area,”   NWS
