ReplyDeleteI think that is Biden also does not like him because he said it (or like Trump because the "good people on both sides" remark). It seems like Woodward says much the same I've been saying, here, about Biden's foreign policy. That does not make it correct, of course.
I know you're too lazy to do your own research, you rely on whatever the liberal lying media says, but when Trump said there were good people on both sides - he was referring to both sides of the debate about whether to keep the Civil War era statues or not. He specifically went on to say that he was condemning the evil Nazis and white supremacists, and of course they are not the good people. If you watch or read the transcript of his entire statement, you will understand how the media manipulated his words and lied to you all these years.

Biden has been more supporting of Israel than any president including Nixon. Every war, even in 1957 with the English and French participation in the war, ended when the President said it had to end. Bidden can disagree or agree with how the war that he overwhelmingly supports is conducted.

The end goal is to destroy the place, and then rebuild for the survivors, forming alliance in the region with the US, Britain and the Gulf States. That has been American policy forever. Trump has not said what he will do. Newt Gingrich is claiming he will have better people around him than last time but we might never know.

DeleteTo me, Robert E. Lee is a tragic figure. He loved the US Army and he loved the United States. He can be compared to Sam Houston who resigned as governor of Texas rather than lead the succession, but that pretty much was at the end of his life (Houston is third greatest American). Lee would have been forced to take up arms against Virginia if he did not resign his commission. When Grant met Lee at Appomattox, he hope that Lee remembered him from the Mexican war. Lee said he did not. No one in the army even forgot about Lee.

ReplyDeleteThey had 100 year of government where the most capable administrator ruled. Like corporate America, bottom line, just doing the job. But Marcus brought back the dumb tradition started by Caesar of heredity (Kingship) and wanted his real son to succeed him. As it turned out his son was the fourth mentally deranged emperor in less than 200 years.
Gemarah says that Romans are dumb by not having hereditary succession. Have to see it again to be exact. It means that they could not do it right like the English constitutional monarchy which is basically a republic. Their failures were Caligula, Nero (there is controversy about whether he was a rasha), Demetrius, and Antoninos's son Commodus, the dumb emperor who thought he was a gladiator. As it turns out he was the fourth deranged emperor.
Bottom line. Augustus figured out how to create a government with the kind of power that the Roman Republic had, but no longer could have without a powerful chief executive, and of course, the same kind of power US still has. But he could not solve the succession question other than made heir. (Beside the problem of the defining the office in republican terms.)
The Flavians, who went to war with us, also also had a nutcase, Dometian. The Senate finally did their job and nominated the next five emperors. They got the results that we basically want in every of our elections, leaders that govern efficiently as far as the Senate and Gentile people saw.
So what was it that America accomplished?
It was the stable transfer of power and efficient governance without a king.
This alone makes the liberal republic (America and English Parliamentary government) far superior to the civic republic (Rome) because we solved the problem of succession. And of course with the tribunate power combined into his office, who was going to oppose him?
The Romans lost their rights. I do not know any theory that we will not ultimately lose our rights like they did.
Without the rambling on- Two chidushim in US. 1) Presidency and 2) judicial review. England has neither. It has a king who appoints an MP to run the government.

The chief magistrate (princeps, emperor) in Rome could not be peacefully replaced if he was crazy or inefficient, or when he died. Almost all civil rights were lost. Accordingly, other than basic stuff that the king could do, you had to get the consent of the people. In America, where the government in its corporate capacity, owns the land. It has the power of escheat, if someone has no heirs, it goes to the state. So even though we vote and ar shutfim on the government, still, the government has all the powers of a king that owns the land. Ma sh'ain kain in the Jewish republic. Very good what you said about us being a republic. We had a kinds but appropriations, laws, spending, had to come from consent of the governed because the king did not own the land that people lived on.

ReplyDeleteI think almost everything is in the Torah but if you just have a sixth grade education you won't see it. If you don't know what a legislature is or First amendment, you will not see it. Here is the closest I got to freedom of speech, going against the king, which you can't even do in England. I love the story with Chezkyahu in Sanhedran. The king was doraish in front of 100,000 not to make piece with Sancheriv. The politician was doraish before 110,000. The king thought he should give in because he had less votes. The Navi said to him, "No." You can't count them in the rabbim because the politician is are a fifth column, like a traitor. He sent a message to the enemy that the king wants war but I want peace. I mean, it's one of those things that if someone did it in America, he would go to jail. Say to the Commies, REagan wants war, just I know how to undermine him so were have peace with the Commie. You go against American public opinion, you are dead meat. Tocqueville write that. Our freedom of speech has boundaries that are more unsurpassable than in the Old World. Go on TV and say you don't believe in liberty, equality, all the dogma. In fifties, go on TV and say the RUssians are our friends. Other than that I can't find any First Amendment source. When we learned 155 about all the hasagos g'vol I was the only one that understood, and I proved it, even went to Rabbi Forscheimer when they kicked a peddler out of town for not being bar masa, that all of it comes from dina d'malchusa. How did I know that. For one, the Rashba says it. Moreover, I know that the Constitution was written and Congress has interstate commerce because of this kind of thing, states favoring their own commerce. But how to understand the economics of the1500s in the Tshuvas? The French Revolution. The French were the old way where everyone had m'arupia, and all the priviledge in the tshuvas. After the Frend Revolution, they became capitalist like the US and England. Which is another thing. Everyone in BMG in the 80s used to say the gemarah days were capitalist, not communist. But they were not capitalist. They had rules that not more than one person can be in an industry and stuff like that. M'maila, a B"D that interfered with business in Lakewood was making a mistake. The only thing that really still fit in was the Rema about opening a store on a dead end street where there already is the same kind of store. There were cases like that here and it does not depend on whether it is capitalist where everyone is free, or like the olden days, where you don't have a right to do most businesses unless you have permission. So not only you can't vote like a responsible citizen if you have not education, you won't also see these things in the gemarah. I was the only one that geot that and low and behold, there are no cases anymore of throwing someone out of the city.
Mistake. It was the opposite. I never understood the French Revolution until I saw all the t'shuvas and realized that they lived under a different economic system. It was not capitalist. That is Adam Smith, no government interference (I guess with the exception of regulation). Now I had four sources to allow someone from another city. Maharashdam said in Ottoman Turkey no one can block anyone from doing business because that was from the government. Interesting because (I saw in Montesquieu a criticism of Turkey for not allowing local people to favor their own business. He said it was a dictatorship. I can't find the passage now. DeleteI also wanted to say that a license from state, like a law license or doctor, be like a m'arufia in the tshuvas (privilege to do business either with the government or public) but the consent in the chabura (the gadol) was that licenses are just for regulation for quality, not for limiting the number of people in a profession. Proof is in tshuva (from the late 19th century), I found it, not the others in the chabura, that says that just because someone is breaking the regulatory law, it is not hasagus g'vaul. This is my element, political science, economics, corporate America. It was easy for me to know this material. I wonder if the Batei Dinim today know this. They did not know it back in the day. Even people in the chabura disagreed with some of my chidushim but they were wrong. I've heard that a gadol in Eretz Yisroel said 154 is not nogeah also because the master title or wherever people got the land meant the right to windows. So in yeshiva, they only car about the d'arisa part of chalonos, not the property rights that go with it. Maybe, but definitely not all the time in Lakewood. Some people own land that goes way back that the had the ta'ana of chalonos. The oilam tends to just see in black and white. 163 is taxation. Most people get 156, commerce, all wrong because the economy is so different than America. BTW Tshuvas are primary sources of history. Goyishe historians can get smart by looking at them.
