- United airlines has now suspended all service to Israel indefinitely. No flights are available for sale on any date and existing flights will be canceled shortly. Clearly, the uncertainly has proved too costly for United to continue trying to fly to Israel.
Passengers with existing reservations to Israel can ask to be rebooked to Amman, Athens, or Dubai, but will have to book their own way from there to Tel Aviv. Some agents have also been rebooking on other airlines, though that is against United’s official policy.

After nearly six years, the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability is sharply criticized for inaction and prosecutorial misconduct Interviews with more than two dozen defense attorneys, judges, prosecutors, whistleblowers, and lawmakers show a growing concern that the state Office of Public Integrity & Accountability has become a paper tiger, with a noticeable inability to close cases – some allegations remain unresolved for years — and accusations of prosecutorial misconduct without checks and balances. In what might be the most enormous stain on the OPIA so far, Superior Court Judge Joseph Paone dismissed the indictment of a well-known rabbi and educator from Lakewood last week after the state had rested its prosecution, determining that prosecutors failed to prove their allegations of money laundering and official misconduct. The Commissioner of Education has the power to increase our taxes just like in NY. East Ramapo just got a 5.4% increase it probably won't be the last. I am glad the NY people did not hire me to do their case. Their district administration was a disaster even before Lakewood,. But who knows what the chumps that think they know something about public schools, will do? Sell vouchers to the oilam?
ReplyDeleteJust shows how little they know. Everyone knows NJ would be the last state (or maybe Massachusetts) to finance private education. And on top of that, our district is borrowing $100 million a year. Dumb. Just plain dumb to think they could get such a "favor."
So here's the story. The state papers are weak. We hope to win and get the ruling that the formula has to change.
At that point, the legislature has to decide. If there are no political people that the public trusts, we will have a problem. There is absolutely no leadership in this town. Proof is that I don't know who exactly is the boss. (NJ a collection of fiefdoms and bosses, and is a home rule state). It is like BMG in the 1980s. Hefker.
Yes, hakaros hatov (usually chanifa) can keep the executive from doing a Monsey-like tax hike (in NY the commissioner is totally independent of the governor. The education power goes back to the early 1700s. The state board is called the University of NY, even though it is K-12, and the governor has no influence).
Who is going to advocate for Lakewood in the legislature?
Us, the people. This should be the only cause for all over the next few years.
