Klal yisroel is in mourning with the petirah of The Mashgiach Rav Moshe Wolfson Zatzal leader of Khal Emunas Yisroel of Boro Park and Mashgiach of yeshiva Torah Vodaas at the age of 99. He was in shul shabbos morning, in the afternoon he fell and was in severe pain.
Hamodia reports Rav Wolfson collapsed on Motzaei Shabbos afternoon and was rushed to the hospital, as many of his talmidim and others stormed the Heavens for his him, but his holy neshamah ascended to Shamayim.
Rav Wolfson was a talmid of Harav Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz, zt”l, the legendary Menahel of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas. In 1943, he joined Aish Dos, an innovative program that Rav Mendlowitz developed to train Rabeim to fill positions in yeshivos and day schools across America. Thus began Rav Wolfson’s long career in chinuch. He taught in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas for many years, and was appointed as Mashgiach by Harav Yaakov Kaminetsky, zt”l, in the 1960s.
Rav Wolfson was the marah d’asra of Camp Torah Vodaas for numerous summers, where he developed a close following of talmidim who eventually established Beis Medrash Emunas Yisrael, with Rav Wolfson as the Rav. The shul became a prominent makom Torah u’tefillah, and the Mashgiach addressed the tzibbur during seudah shlishis and other occasions. Many of his drashos were published over the years as Sefer Emunas Itecha.
The levayah is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning at Beis Medrash Emunas Yisroel located at 4310 16th Avenue in Boro Park.
R. Wolfson was a big fan of Chabad, he gave shiurim in Tanya, visited the Lub. Rebbe multiple times, got dollars from him, participated and spoke at large public Lubavitch events such as Yud Tes Kislev celebrations and Lag Baomer gatherings for years.
ReplyDeleteThat does not make him a Lubavitcher Chosid. He had much more to do with the Torah V'Da'as Mesora than the Lubavitch Mesora.
DeleteHe even went to daven in the room of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in recent years, long after his death. I am not sure he if he went to his grave too, but wouldn't be surprised if he did.
DeleteShow me one person in modern Torah Vodaas who was connected so much to Lubavitch, so openly and prominently, as he was.
Beautiful he was mikusher with gedolim
ReplyDeleteHe was not a chassid of chabad but he was a chassid of the rebbe זצ"ל נ"ע
ReplyDeleteHe was a chassid of everyone who was called a Rebbe.
ReplyDeleteLubavitch, Satmar, the latest Bobover Rebbe 48, Skverer Rebbe, and whom not. Basically, he considers them all the same. Just like many of us think.
Stolin
DeleteBut did he speak at events of other Hasidic sects as much as he did by Chabad ones (e.g. Yud Tes Kislev, Lag Baomer, Miami in winter, all of these for years)? I don't think so. So that indicates a greater connection with Lub.
Deleteof all the rebbes he spoke about, i think he spoke about satmar (rav yoel) the most. he felt very connected to him.
DeleteWhat was his connection to Skver that they made a levaya there?
