Lehovin Editorial on the Chutzpah of Eretz Hakodesh campaign for WZO elecrions
..Then Came Eretz Hakodesh The Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah issued a unifed statement that no one should vote for them or in the WZO elections. In the name of kedusha they didn’t listen. But, there is no kedusha when we don’t listen. We say “asher kidishonu b’mitzvoysov v’tzivonu..” The only way to achieve kedusha is by following what Hashem wants. Not what you think Hashem wants, not what you want, not what sounds noble and holy, but following asher yorucho, bayomim ho’heim. But all this was irrelevant to Eretz Hakodesh. They had the chutzpah to make the Sar HaTorah, Rav Chaim Kanievski zt”l their poster boy to promote their ambitions. To our dismay, Rav Chaim is in the Olam HoEmes since Shushan Purim 5782. Since that time, with Eretz Hakodesh in the WZO, another paragraph was added in to the Jerusalem Program which everyone pledges allegiance to when they vote in the
WZO elections. By voting for Eretz Hakodesh a person is signing that they pledge allegiance to the kefira’dik Jerusalem program – same as by voting for the Reform, Conservative, or any other Zionists. The new paragraph, added since Eretz Hakodesh joined, states that, by voting, you are committed to “Encouraging recruitment and service in the Israel Defense Forces and the security forces and strengthening them as the protective force of the Jewish people living in Zion, as well as encouraging full National Service for anyone exempted in law from service in the IDF.”
Is there anyone of sound mind who would think that Rav Chaim would want Klal Yisroel to vote Yes to the destruction of the Olam HaTorah?
We are being moche for the kovod of Maran Sar Hatorah Harav Chaim Kanievski zt”l.
For 120 years, we stayed apart. Back in Europe, before the war, when the poverty was unimaginable to us and there was opportunity to save the yeshivas by joining the WZO, the gedolim paskened no! Whatever the consequence. But, that was irrelevant to Eretz Hakodesh.
The Chofetz Chaim, Rav Elchonon, Rav Chaim Ozer, the Brisker Rov, the Chazon
Ish. All irrelevant. Eretz Hakodesh claims to know better. The Jerusalem program is kefrah. The gedolim explained why. But, that is irrelevant to them. They put in articles to explain that its ‘nisht geferlach’, Here is an excerpt from one of their advertising articles regarding the ‘uneasiness’ that some Charedim have with signing on to the Zionist’s Jerusalem Program. Eretz Hakodesh has paskening power
which trumps all the previous and current gedolim! Apikorsus! Chutzpah!
And therefore, Eretz Hakodesh has permitted us to do what generations of gedolim did not!
Maran HaRav Dov Landau, paskened this year, after, in his humility writing that he thoroughly researched the matter, you cannot be part of the WZO in any form or fashion. Even if you vote in the Israeli Elections, you cannot vote in the WZO, paskened the recognized gadol hador. Did it matter to Eretz Hakodesh? Surely not.
So, what did they do when the gedolim paskened against them?
They ran advertisements and articles claiming that Rav Dovid Feinstein zt”l was
behind them. While he was alive, he didn’t publicize anything of the sort. Not even to
his close talmidim. But, Chazal say that if you want to lie, ‘yarchik eiduso,” you should use witnesses from afar. Sadly, Rav Dovid zt”l is far away, in the Olam HaEmes, since the 19th of Cheshvon 5781. To Eretz Hakodesh, it was irrelevant that the unifed Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of America said no. They worked to get the Gateshead Rosh Yeshiva and make him America’s posek. More chutzpah.
It did not matter to them that the gedolim of America, of the communities that
they were soliciting, enticing, and trying to sway, made asifos and came out publicly
against them. They barreled ahead, using tens of thousands (or more) of dollars to
tempt our tzibbur. . They bought advertising space in charedi venues to confuse
those who they thought they could.
Towards the end of the campaign, when they saw that people felt uneasy pledging support for them, they took the road of nothing being too low. They put in articles making it seem as if the gedolim have no de’ah, can be bought, and – it would be laughable if it were not so horri昀椀c, may Hashem forgive us for even repeating- were puppets of Yizhar Hess and the Conservative movement in the Conservative movement’s effort to try to prevent Eretz Hakodesh from being successful.
We are being mocheh for the kovod of all
the gedolim of today who have been trampled upon by Eretz Hakodesh, r”l. The chutzpah is indescribable. The lowness is unimaginable. They put kedusha in their name, but it is anything but. We don’t need to save Eretz Yisrael or Klal Yisrael. The Ribono shel Olam does that. We need to follow Torah, mitzvos, our mesorah, and our gedolim. We need to stay apart from the kofrim. Not join them. Billions of dollars will not bring kedusha. Kedusha is attained b’mitzvosov. Kedusha is achieved by remaining separate. K’doshim tihiyu

The first time I have ever found myself nodding along to an article from Lehavin.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the purpose of this article? Those who voted knew clearly what they were doing, and chose to vote anyway, and this article won't convince them of listening to daas torah. Unfortunately, we have seen time after time how those with an agenda will distort the truth, the torah, and the gedolim. The only difference is now the other side is fighting back too. In many other issues the losing side had no choice but to move on after being beaten up by the lies and harassment.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to see and call out a campaign of deceprion even using gedolei hador
DeleteDon't think this fight is over
Don't underestimate the churban and chilul Hashem that was done by EH on American Jewry
Hashem should have rachmanus
Deleteאז נדברו יראי ה' איש אל־רעהו ויקשב ה' וישמע ויכתב ספר זכרון לפניו ליראי ה' ולחשבי שמו
Rav Moshe Shternbuch shelita has quoted Rav Moshe Schneider זצ"ל that Hashem listens to see if we at least protest to each other when things like this happen.
Lehovin is a yeshivish Neturei Karta.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you publishing their garbage?
Maskim!!!!
DeleteWhy would garbage, as your drivel, be published?
DeleteIf you didn't vote for Schnall despite the unanimous view of the Moetzes that he should run, and not a single Rav publicly disagreeing you can't fault others for not listening to the Moetzes when other Rabbonim publicly disagreed .
ReplyDeleteCan we let WZO go? First lets get the facts straight. There are gedolim who said to vote , there are gedolim who said not to vote. The amatuer poem from earlier in the week and the netrai karta lehovin isnt confincing anyone from the other tzad. Lets move on.
ReplyDeleteHere you are with your sheker again! There was no equal disagreement.
DeleteThe chutzpah that Americans showed to the Gateshead Rosh Yeshiva will not be forgotten quickly. This is a person who lives, breathes, and exists for Torah and Torah only. Reb Avraham is a person who was משכמו ולמעלה when he was a young bochur, and has only shteiged since then. He rarely involved himself in a public issue, keeping his mind free and clear with only Torah. When he emerged from his cave to issue opinions, on rare occasions, we can be sure that no outside influence was involved. Yet the עזי פנים שבדור treat him like he was just some Rosh Yeshiva teaching kids.
ReplyDeleteHuh?! Rav Avraham Shelita has NEVER been involved in anything related to directing American Jews
DeleteThe only ones who were mevazeh him are the Eretz Hakodesh defenders who used Rav Avrohom and shlepped him to America where he had no interest in getting involved. His letter was for Gatshead yet they abused itvto6civer up for their lack of support amongst gedolim in America
Deletemaskim
ReplyDeleteThere are two sides to this debate... Let's not kid ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThose that can't handle that, are ironically those claiming that we should accept their opinion as equal to that of Reb Aaron Leib.
DeleteFunny how things work out.
This is exactly the playbook for pro Eretz Hakodshniks
ReplyDeleteLabel any opposition as radical niturei karta satmar etc garbage Rag etc. While doing worse in a attempt to undermine a mesorah of 120 years uninterrupted
Their deceptive marketing was exposed for the sham it was
For some odd reason, people get so emotional and so heated about the topic of Zionism that they can’t think rationally. L’masseh we have never disagreed in principle with Neturei Karta, only in practice. After R Aharon Katzenelenbogen - leader of NK met with Reb Shach, Reb Shach said we have the same Shita, only with a different Nusach. We always held that Zionism in any form - and especially Religious Zionism (!) is 100% Treif. The Chofetz Chaim had plenty to say about the religious Zionist. (Which is basically what Eretz Hakodesh is without saying it). The question is what do you do with it and how you deal with it. Generally speaking, our Mesorah is to ignore the State and its proxies. Do what you gotta do, but don’t give it any legitimacy. That doesn’t mean don’t vote or go full NK, in fact Reb Aharon held it’s not right to publicly disparage the Medinah in US politics, but nonetheless we agree fundamentally with their view as it relates to the problems of Zionism.
ReplyDeleteThis is so basic I think even Cohen Y will agree.
Um no. The Neturei Karta today are little more than a Jewish group of Palestinian Nationalists fighting for . Palestinian Nationalism. And not just any type of Palestinian Nationalism but the most bloodthirsty version of it. Just because you oppose Zionism doesn't mean you need to be misachber and machnif to every Rosha who opposes it too. See what Rav Yosef Elyah Henkin had to say about them (in the name of Rav Chaim Ozer Grodezensky) in the back of the second volume of Kisvei Rav Yosef Elyah Henkin. And that was in the 1950s when the NK were Tzadikim Gemurim compared to the Rodfim that they are today.
DeleteI agree that people get so emotional and so heated about the topic of Zionism that they can’t think rationally. You happen to be one of those people. Give me the exact maareh mokomos of where the Chofetz Chaim said plenty about the religious Zionists. Probably no one told you this, but his son Rav Leib Poupko who he wrote the Mishnah Berurah with was the president of Mizrachi in Poland
DeleteAccording to the Artscroll biography of the Chofetz Chaim, at least. Rav Leib Poupko did not start changing his haskafa until the end of his fathers life and only became president of Mizrachi in Poland after his father was niftar. At the time he worked on the Mishnah Berurah with his father he was not a member of the Mizrachi movement yet. On the flip side, the Mizrachi movement uses some of what the Chofetz Chaim wrote and said in support of their haskafa. Rav Leib Popkou writes in Dugma L'Abba about his visit to Eretz Yisroel in the 1920s (he writes that he was taken aback by how consumed with hatred the anti-zionist kanoim were) But he also wrote that when he went back to his father and tried to get an opinion about the situation in EY , the CC absolutely refused to say anything other than "Once you were already in Eretz Yisroel , you never should have left and come back to Poland. " No matter how hard he tried that was all he could get his father to say
DeleteLehovin is still published? Who reads it?
ReplyDeleteThe people who write it also read it
DeleteSomeone just told me a funny joke.
ReplyDeleteHe told me that Lehavin which constantly ran hit pieces against many of our gedolim, just put out a article supposedly standing up for the honor gedolim. Lol
What a garbage piece from Lehovin. The Gedolim were discussing a tekufa a hundred years ago when Zionism was an alternative to Torah. Today it is bankrupt. Who doesn't get that.
ReplyDeleteNot. The gedolim today who signed against eretz hakodesh disputed this claim as zionizim is just as strong look at the gezeiros against the yeshivos going on now with the draft. Sorry nothing changed besides a few powerful people wants some change from WZO get and opened a party.
DeleteWhen the advertisements quoting Rav Dovid Feinstein were plastered all over, I prepared an email to send to the rabbi quoting. I unfortunately never got his email address and never sent the letter. But, here it is:
ReplyDeleteDear ....
I hope that this finds you doing well.
Although, as far as I can recall, I have never had the zechus to meet you, nevertheless, I have felt connected to you over the past 4 years, since your miraculous recovery. I remember davening for you and joining an Atzeres tefilah for your health. Your recovery has made me feel grateful to our Creator: Every time I have seen your name, feelings of gratefulness have been aroused.
Today, though, I write to you with a heavy and pained heart. As far as I know, Rabbi Dovid Feinstein spent great effort avoiding any sort of public controversy. It is extremely painful that you have chosen to go to war publicly with Rav Aaron Feldman, Rav Moshe Shternbach, Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, the Lakewood Roshei Yeshiva - all in the name of Rav Dovid Feinstein.
Is the great Rav 100% certain that this is what Rav Dovid zt"l wants you to do?
With pain,
a simple Jew
Are you 100% certain that sending emails to Rabbonim nd them publicly accusing them of choosing to go to war with other Rabbonim is what Hashem wants you to do?
DeleteThere were more upstanding notable individuals who got involved than just R'D E
DeleteMr. Cohen? Are you OK? Bang your head??
Delete1) There's not a person in the world who would consider Rav Dovid Feinstein ZT"L anything less than an 'upstanding and notable' great person.
2) Anyone else is irrelevant to someone writing a letter - which was used as a major advertised headline - claiming Rav Dovid ZT"L told him to do this.
Stay focused, dear Mr. Cohen
Pardon.Eidensohn, my dear
DeleteWhat a geshmak chabad fabreng in vine park.
ReplyDeleteI have a question.
ReplyDeleteIf I take a box of crackers and call them WZO crackers, will it be muttar to eat them? Or did the Chafetz Chaim forbid this too? Do we have 100 years of mesorah about the WZO?
I wasn't sure which side to take.
ReplyDeleteThen I saw those that invested money and effort to fight Gedolei Yisroel in the past are now against the voting.
Now I know which side to take.
11:44
ReplyDeleteUnsure where my name comes in
Putting it aside,we should agree in spite of continual chameleon manner of secularists &/or religious fellow travelers - & vice versa too-that the D State that controls Israel & their supporters will (forever) set the contours.
They'll continue to tolerate just enough for chardal & better religious types blow off some steam. It happens to serve as a tad useful for the D State when negotiating foreign affairs.Any more than that however, & those will be demonized.If/when that fails, put behind bars.
On the other hand you're being a typical simplistic kid style re:such statements as "we have never disagreed in principle with Neturei Karta, only in practice"-which were never attempted to mean as blatant as you try to surmise
They were all far more holistic, & comprehensively communally responsible than NK re: our collective destiny. & they invariably considered NK infantile at the very least in their methods, usually worse in larger trajectory !
