  3. There's nothing like competition why do the existing lakewood organizations feel the need to expand and rename themselves central Jersey in order to hog and claim ownership of all the territory. Let others come and provide better services. If a organization did not do its job before the competition and growth of surrounding neighborhoods they should allow others to come in. Lakewood could use more communal organizations let's bring competition.

    1. More Org. = More wasted money on overhead costs. Maybe we should have organizations based out of Jackson or Toms River - that would save lots of Lakewood taxpayer money on property taxes, Lakewood funds the gas for Hatzolah & Chaverim of CJ? How about all the government services they use - Chometz garbage, Shuls, schools etc. the surrounding towns are far from being self sufficient- don’t just use Lakewood!

    1. Is Menashe going to start abolishing things in other towns in Central Jersey now too?

    2. That's exactly why Menashe should never be allowed to be in the position of a county commissioner (even though everybody, besides him and Ray Coles, knows that the county never had a rent control board).

No it's not, you pathetic cynic. They're just making it known that their highly regarded services extend far beyond Lakewood proper. Stop being such a negative little being.

    2. Calling names doesn't change the facts. Weisner is being attacked by the chasidish rabbanim in town and a few have already held meetings about starting their own.

    3. I go to Hefkervelt to get the latest hock that I can't find elsewhere, but I must say that the people who comment are the most negative, bitter people I have ever come across. Negativity is the name of the game here. It's this attitude that keeps us from putting up viable candidates to run against the current officeholders. If we can only spew negativity and bitterness we will get nowhere. Constructive, mature criticism along with alternate solutions is the way to go in life and in future elections.

  10. Lakewood board attorney reappointed every year with one of the highest paid salaries yet we beg Trenton for loans every year

    ReplyDelete

    1. Huh? Please clarify. Which board needs an attorney? Why does this board need an attorney? Is a significantly lower paid attorney likely to provide the same services? Will the board loose more money by hiring a significantly paid attorney?

Most importantly: Is the focus on a particular attorney's paycheck partially motivated by kinnah? We will all be a lot happier if we cut this out.

  13. He won't listen to the Rosh Yeshiva. He holds it is not a BMG matter.

As for this nonsense of saving money, first of all, it is a kleinekeit compared to the millions, nay billions, he is still putting at risk endangering the funding litigation. Second, the $10 million the district paid to disenroll students for three years from 2012-2018

    http://lakewoodlaworg.ipage.com/documents/State%20Docs.pdf

I don't know if he represented all those kids but they needed to pay them because of the stay-put rule. These are easy wins. The monitor even testified to that. Why three years? Because once they are out of the system, they can't come back in because the rule no longer would apply.

All this was presented by the state. See:

    http://lakewoodlaworg.ipage.com/documents/Placements%20in%20Unapproved%20Schools-3.pdf

Why was it important to disenroll these students? Because, ostensibly they were in unapproved (against regulations) settings.

"The district was involved in seventy-three litigation cases during the 2014-2015 school year. Many of these cases centered on special education students being educated in non-approved, non-public schools and yeshiva."

I am so tired of the nonsense of cheaper to pay him. It is cowardly. Shame on Lakewood. The American creed is millions for defense and not a cent for tribute. And what is more important, the hundreds of millions the state will likely throw at Lakewood of the money they save by hiring him?

    2. One second - you are admitting that we would pay more if he wasn't there, but 'American creed' is somehow more important than my money?!

No! Stop forcing your opinions on my pocket! I don't care for 'American creed', I do care for my pocket.

    5. The whole point of the comment was that you don't save money. He was boss until 2012 and had must have had a hand in the unapproved placement. When he was fired, then he defended the kids in those unapproved placements so that the district had to fork out $10 million to get them out. So it seems like he created the mess and then got paid again when the taxpayers had to clean it up. Where is the honor in rehiring him? As for savings, any attorney could have won those cases. BTW The millions for defense was from the XYZ affair during the John Adams administration when the French diplomats demanded a bribe just to negotiate with them.
