- PSA: The public chametz burnings do not burn everything that goes into their dumpsters. Come to them at 1pm and you will see them brimming with chametz. Which is not a problem for chametz. But for challah, that is not sufficient. The challah must be burned. Either place them in the boxes for Sreifas Challah all over town, like outside Aisle 9 in Jackson. Or take a coal grill and make a fire with coal, and dump the challah inside. In that case, the grill will become treif. If you want to keep it, find a large can or metal baking tin and place it on top of the coals. After some hours, it should be burned to a crisp. Best if you cover most of the fire (not all) that the heat stays inside.(Submitted)

- A state inspector has been asked to review whether Yeshiva University, which is in a court battle with a group of L.G.B.T.Q. students over whether it must recognize their campus club, should have received $230 million in taxpayer funds after the university has said that it is a religious institution.

  1. High Hopes for Harold Hershkowitz!

    Putting the following out there again as ”שִׂמְחָה לָאִישׁ בְּמַעֲנֵה־ פִיו וְדָבָ֖ר בְּעִתּ֣וֹ מַה־טּֽוֹב׃“

Its a thought on how and why the korban pesach is fundamentally different than the other "standard" korbanos

  2. Phil Murphy has done nothing for Lakewood in both of his terms the community voted heavily against him. In the early days of covid he fanned the flames against lakewood by calling us knuckle heads and sent the state police to arrest innocent people. Rabbi knopfler was arrested and beaten because of some askanim and local leaders who collaborated with King Phil. these askanim who met with him do not to represent Lakewood community at large but only themselves and their personal interests as we saw the 2 failed bids for public office.

Miller is a republican why did he go when he never shows his face at township meetings. We should collectively stand up and shout out loud
You have no business representing the Lakewood frum kehilla using our population numbers to gain favors for the well connected.
Nothing was done for Rt 9
Nothing was done to eliminate 200 Million in debt owed by Lakewood taxpayers.
Time to vote out the corrupt politicians

    1. The 200million in debt is the fault of the BOE attorney. If he would admit that the BOE can not give students a decent education with current state funding ,then the State would have to come in and support the district . But now we get huge loans that could end up bankrupting our taxpayers down the road.

  3. @hershel hershkowitz I'm not saying you are right or wrong but saying sky scrapers aren't normal because there are none in a 30 mile radius isn't a great argument think about any town that does have sky scrapers at some point they were small towns just like Lakewood.

    1. It's not that simple. You will never be driving around an area where there are no high rise buildings and suddenly in middle of nowhere there are high rises. Cities are created because they are in areas that either contain an area for a trade route, and the suburbs eventually grow more dense as the city spreads. or they are created intentionally from the beginning because there is enough land to build roads and transportation to coincide with development. Lakewood has neither of those things. Lakewood is no different than any other Jersey town and should function accordingly. Just because people want to move here, is not a reason to build irresponsibly and cause misery and fights in the town. Just because a few individuals want to benefit from over development is not a reason to allow this. We need people to speak up and say enough is enough

    3. I was told.condos. but nevertheless, since there are some members of the committee pushing this idea, they will pay no property.tax for 30 years. so what is the benefit of having any of this

    4. Hershel, your crystal clear vision is exactly what Lakewood needs right now!

  4. What a stupid comment. Lakewood is now a big town with the infrastructure of a small town dodo.

  5. Will there be residential units in these sky scrapers breathing in the pollution from the smokestacks.
A few years ago the Yeshiva applied to the LIC to build 99 apartments with a research facility as the bais medrash
    Is this the application again

  6. The main problem is that we are left in the dark. This is usually the case. Our own Bais Horaah literally strong armed their way to steal parking from adjacent businesses that they were not entitled to. Liednto the planning board and negated 9 years of my hard work to fix the downtown. And I sat back and took the lies from them and smiled. Again. This is The Bais Horaaah! How sad is that ?

  8. You can flatten your challah dough, wrap well in foil and put at the bottom of your oven. Leave it there for some time as you use your oven as usual. It will burn to a crisp. No worries.

  9. Won't the FAA have to approve it, being so close to the airport?

  10. Please check with your rabbi on the oven being treif, I have heard otherwise. (don’t rely on this for psak)
