If BMG keeps the second half of sefira - It only makes sense not to say אב הרחמים..
ReplyDeleteThat is a common misconception. But if you think about it, the meaning of Av harchamim is unrelated to the aveilus of sfira.
DeleteRather, Av harachamim was originally instituted for Shabbos mvorchim Sivan since that was a time when many yidden died al kiddish hashem during the time of the crusades. It was later expanded to say it every Shabbos, but the Minhag to say it on Shabbos mvorchim Sivan was retained even though we don’t normally say it on Shabbos mvorchim, and that’s BMGs minhag.
The more common minhag is to also say it on Shabbos mvorchim iyar because the entire yemai sefira are viewed as being the time period when so many died Al kiddish hashem because they are Yemai din.
BMG doesn’t really have minhagim certainly not that were established by R Aaron. Agav נוהג בחכמה did get certain times R Aaron sneezed wrong.
