Individuals are not the tzibbur. The tzibbur needed someone who would use his power to help the tzibbur. For example, finding a better method to deal with the coronavirus. In Trump's world, all you need for a pandemic is a) a ban on Chinese citizens entering (after the European strain is already here, b) more useless ventilators being built, and c) a cheerleader with contradictory messages. Our own brothers were niftar from this pandemic, and Trump refused any responsibility, since day one. We are one of the worst off countries regarding covid19, and it is not even clear that Biden can reverse the Trump carnage.
