ReplyDeleteAll of you, with your ad hominum arguments against me, we Americans can disagree over policy, or whether we welcome social change or not, but WE are all outraged, like never before, over what happened yesterday. I will say it again, this was not a riot, a typical crime or anything we have seen in our lifetime, not even comparable to past attacks upon our Capitol, but an affront to the Constitution. I do not have enough fingers to count how many times in the past when governments ceased being constitutional because the executive or demagogue rallied the people, thugs, rabble, to intimidate the Senate (and now, sadly, the Congress of the United States).
ReplyDeleteThe nation is not under threat just because women, homo-s-xuals, African-Americans, Liberals or even Progressives gain power. Nor does any policy, no matter how much it affects what we believe to be the American way, how much it disgusts us, threaten the survival of the republic. If that is your definition of doom, then look yourself in the mirror. Whom do I love more, my country or myself.
Take your stand concerning what happened. This is not a time for ambivalence, justification or comparisons. The rest of the nation is together speaking as one voice now. If you have not spoken out, think long and hard of your priorities.
