Living in Lakewood is a Chilul Hashem.

  2. Still waiting for Trump to back up all his claims. I am a Trump fan but he will look like the biggest fool if he losses all the court cases. If it is so clear about all the fraud and cheating that occured it should be pretty simple to prove

  3. I'm also a Trump supporter, & am upset about his election loss, but only because of his policies and accomplishments. Not because of his character, which I detest. He is definitely looking like a fool regarding his fraud accusations, but as we've seen in the past, looking like and acting like a fool isn't something new with Trump.

    2. I started to read that website. It is literally mind boggling how anyone takes that stuff seriously.
The first chapter claims that Trump was winning by a huge amount before they started to count the mail-in ballots. How is that for proof? Democrats were more likely to vote by mail. Who would have thought?

      Delete
    3. They base their claims on a guy called Shiva Ayyadurai. He is the 'scientist' who crunches the numbers for them. Google him, he claims to have invented the concept of email, about 7 years after it was being used in various places. He is basically a nutcase who veers between running (unsuccessfully) for political office, and cranking out conspiracy theories, one more fantastic than the next

    4. Just read the parts 1-6. Not the rest of the stuff on the website.

    5. I started to read Part 1, it is ludicrous nonsense. And it is based on the 'studies' of the conartist email inventor Shiva. It is literally a waste of time, and actual proof that no real fraud was perpetrated by the Democrats this election.
Now nobody is researching the Republican fraud stories. There are most likely plenty of those. My theory is that the Republican leadership is shocked by the Biden win because they thought their fraud would cancel Biden's popularity. That is how they got so many more votes than last time, after four disastrous years. When the legal Democratic voters outnumbered the phony Republican ones, they were shocked. Now when things reach court, they need to backtrack so the egg isn't all over their faces. And Giuliani in jail, while a tempting picture, is not Giuliani's first choice.

They had almost 3,000 last year and lost 2,000 of them. Read between the lines in the story. Only a couple hundred at home learning but 2,000 computers that are needed in the buildings are not accounted for.

  6. So when it comes to all the new votes in South Texas and Florida that have not voted for a Republican in decades, there you think no fraud and all legit. Same in Ohio where Trump beat all polls. But in PA, MI and GA you think that there must be fraud with NO LEGIT EVIDENCE. Not even a shred. There has not been even one court case with fraud on any scale even alleged let alone proven. All this fraud nonsense has helped me understand some of the Shabbetai Tzvi aftermath.

    1. answer a simple question - why are the democrats against verifying signatures, against voter id and any other voter integrity process? Why were republican observers blocked. There are many sworn affidavits that there was fraud, why are you saying there isn't evidence? Boxes dropped off from unknown sources in middle of the night, telling republican observers to go home as counting was waiting for the next day, while actually continuing after they left, workers cheering as republican observers were being led out but still noe "evidence" ....

Are the republican's against doing a recount in areas Trump won?

  8. It is all bogus. The Chromebooks were in the schools at the beginning of 2020. They were used EVERY DAY IN SCHOOL.

Then schools closed in March and apparently they were given out willy-nilly. They really were not neccessary since student were able to take pictures of their papers and submit them through their iPhones.

Then in September 2020, when Lakewood in it infinite wisdom decides to be the only K-12 district in NJ to open, and with the must packed and crowded classes in the county to boot, low and behold, there are no ChromeBooks in the school, so they have to buy thousands more. But are told that about 600 kids are learning at home. Only about one third of them have district issued Chromebooks. Over 2,000 are not accounted for!

And people wonder why the state does not increase funding for Lakewood! The state is not stupid. It would rather loan the money to the tune of $140 million than increase funding. After all, if money is wasted, why should the state care, they will be paid back regardless.

Also, note what the APP article says that the money is coming out of Extraordinary Aid. That is the money the state reimburses us for the cost of sending kids to special education schools, which ultimately come out of our pockets. Take money from there, more money borrow, more we will pay. Then for icing on the cake, one day the state will remove the property tax caps for say, all districts owing more than $100 million and our goose will be cooked.

  10. YOU THINK WE NOW WILL HAVE A CIVIL WAR? Study history. I told you yesterday that everyone knows that the slavery issue and divided the delegates at the Constitutional Convention. States were passing Acts of Nullification against the tariffs. That issue persisted for generations. Calhoun, when Jackson's VP supported nullification over the tariff. The tariff went hand-in-hand with slavery because it protected Northern industry but harmed Southern planters. I do not see any states nullifying acts of Congress, threatening to secede, arguing over the same issue for generations (like tariffs and slavery).

In fact, it is quite the opposite. The parties, consistent with how the system works, switch positions every generation. The Democrats used to be the party of the working class and Southerners. There are many examples.

So why do you think we are to have a civil war? American civil wars, like those of the Romans, are headed by great men, like Sydney Johnson, Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, US Grant, Winfield Scott, not thugs. They are supported by sovereign legislative bodies. The officers graduated West Point and the US Army splits in half. I do not see that happening at all. If anything, the military is united in upholding the Constitution. The governors of all states and their legislatures will uphold the law. And so will the Supreme Court. The republic is decaying, and it might take centuries, but it is still decaying, but won't have a civil war any time soon.

He said lots of other things, one stupider than the next. But that is just what we expect of him. One of them was "Before Obama, we did not have one Islamist attack on American soil". Does it get stupider than that? After he was the mayor in NY during 9/11

  17. My teacher, Wallace Mendelson, was one of Frankfurter's many talmidim. Mendelson used always say, apply the Rule in Hayden's Case (Lord Cook). Look at the circumstances motiving the legislature. Marshall was wrong to give the Court authority to overturn an act of Congress. See "THE MARSHALL DOCTRINE, THE TANEY DOCTRINE AND CALHOUNIAN FEDERALISM" Arthur H. Lang, 10 DARTMOUTH L. JOURN. 76 (2012). Note that the substantive due process, the false doctrine that give rise to the Girsswald line which includes Roe v. Wade, the Lochner line that ended in 1937, and incorporation (which BTW Scalia supported for the Second Amendment) was created by Calhoun to deny Congress its plenary authority to regulate slavery in the territory. The correct approach is that of Thayer, followed by Holmes, Brandeis and Frankfurter, that the due process clause did NOT produce new rights. Yes, all three of them had to give in with the First Amendment, but at the same time, they gave clear limits to this judicial activism. So correct, I am biased toward Frankfurter as he was right and also my teacher's teacher.

As for Locke, yes, as Edmund Burke, the father of conservatism (a nation is a contract between the generations-I think that was brilliant), would derive the English law simply from common law tradition. Locke, as a liberal, put a theory behind it. So point taken.

However, I read the "Puritan Dilema" in high school. I do not remember enough about Winthrop's attack on Locke. But Locke was for sure correct. Hobbes said you give up everything in the social contract so you can have a tyrant as long as he does not kill you (otherwise you do not need government). Locke said no, there is natural law. The only right you give up is the go'al ha'dam right. You cannot take the law into your own hands. Otherwise you keep all your rights in nature. So, don't you think I am correct to say Locke in a way invented the American way?

It was the 16th president and ensuing Reconstruction which finally trucked it forever

    1. I disagree. And I never liked Machiavelli. Modern democracy is build upon the fundamental worth of the individual, not the organic theory of society. The person is not a hand with the king as the head to form some unified entity greater than the individual part. That is what is meant by pursuit of happiness, not John Stuart Mill happiness, but our own goals and destiny, or perhaps moral worth in the Kantian sense.

It sounds like what you are describing is the classical civil republic as with Rome. Like Montesquieu wrote, that as long as Rome had that unity of purpose, to take over the world, the republic thrived. (I have been reading Gibbon lately who was definitely more authorative on the subject). But the modern world has liberal republics in which the individual is supreme. There is no unity of purpose. We each make or have our own destiny. That is the theory.

Also, I do not agree, as you probably can tell, that the lost cause was a bad cause. Slavery had to end but look at the result of the change after the 16th president. We have a Supreme Court that can willy-nilly decide any political issue under the guise of the due process clause of the 14th amendment. It is one thing to be an arbitrator between state power and federal, but quite another to use the federal judiciary to make up new rights that never existed before. I liked Hamilton's bank, his interpretation of necessary and proper, and definitely approve of Gibbons v Ogden, but yes, I can see Locke more on the side of the South and Jefferson, and I see that as good. And the Confederacy was not feeble, they fought bravely, had great commanders, but you are right about one crises after the other before the Civil War. Is it your position that power has to be centralized to prevent constitutional crises? Did putting all power into the hands of the princeps prevent constitutional crises in Rome? It did as long as Augustus was alive but he could not live forever. So now that the issue of state power versus federal has been decided, what about the slow and gradual accumulation of power in the executive? Is that not a recipe for future problems? The Founders thought to spread out power between states and federal, between Congress and President, but perhaps, as you infer, they went too far following Locke, but perhaps now we are heading too far toward consolidation of power in one office? Will the 50 state parties consolidate into one top-down unified national party so that the executive as party leader has absolute control over both the states and the Congress? I would like to study this issue further.

  19. a)The Constitution should have stated: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Dignity. Alas, it does not

b)The French Revolutionaries, who Jefferson and his disciples admired , would have also laughed him off the stage

Even Locke's proponents agreed that for his society to be realistic
It would have to be an acadian idyll small holding yeomen disestablished Protestants
Virtually everything more would be DOA

c)The South did well due to its cavalier aristocracy and domestic [racial!] stability,
in spite of, rather than because of its political philosophy. Even many of it's reputable sons' while proud of its efforts, heroism and passion were privately sort of relieved that for the long term they were defeated
would have resulted in separatism ad infinitum
    cf. Quebec, Catalonia, Yugoslavia

d)cf. correspondence between Jefferson and Adams

    e) Devarim 17:8-20 cf. comm.

  20. Not clear what your letter refer to. Yes, Burke was right about France. But Burke would agree with Locke concerning life, liberty and property. It is enshrined in the common law. I am not a Jeffersonian. But I do believe that Locke blows away any political writer before or after him. Mill was also very smart. I refer to his political writing. Interest looking at the great continental philosophers, such as Kant, whose Critiques are the most important works of pure thought ranking with Plato, they pale in comparison with the great English writers. Burke would say that it has nothing to do with theory, but the development of the English constitution. I think in letter a) you meant Declaration of Independence. The French revolutionaries were a perfect example of tyranny of the majority, or ala Burke, a society that abandons it laws and traditions to base society on pure theory. I do not know why you associate Locke with an agrarian society. I though the Jeffersonian idea, to him, came from the ancient Israelites. C has some truth. D) I love those correspondences. I typically favor Adams but the two of them seesaw every generation as to whom was greater. I am not sure why you reference e) but get this: our ancestors founded democracy. According to Tosfos and most Rishonim the king has not kinyan in the karka because of Yoivel. Therefore dina d'malchus dina. Aside for basic things like building roads, going to war etc. if the government wanted to do health care, go to the moon, all the things governments do, he would have to get the consent of the people. This is clear in Choshen Mishpat 163 where anything the city spends on is by the vote of the taxpayers (and there is an interest balance between one man one vote and money-the seven men on the committee, 4 are voted by heads, 3 by amount of money contributed). How do you like that! All that nonsense about no dina' d'malchusa in Israel is backwards! It means that a king has no right to legislate, but when people convence a pariliament and consent to laws, of course dina d'malchus dina.
